Blood and Bone - A MUST Read!,
By Renee Nelson (White Plains, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood and Bone (Paperback)
From the opening sentence to the very last, you won't want to stop reading this action-packed page-turner. Definitely not suitable for bedtime reading. If you read it when you're drowsy, you'll never keep up with the pace; if you read it to GET drowsy, you'll be up all night.Mr. Camacho is a gifted storyteller with the skill to pull you inside his characters, to make you see what they see and feel what they feel. It was more like watching a great action movie than reading a book. Very engrossing. Two thumbs up for Blood and Bone, and I can't wait for the next Hannibal adventure!

Missing person deception, conspiracy, and greed,
By Dawn Dowdle "Mystery Lovers Corner reviewer" (Lynchburg, VA USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Blood and Bone (A Hannibal Jones Mystery Book One) (Paperback)
Hannibal Jones has been hired to find Kyle's father. He disappeared eighteen years ago, right before Kyle was born. Now Kyle lies dying of leukemia. They believe his father could be a match to save his life.
Hannibal only has two weeks to find him. He follows a trail full of deception, conspiracy and greed. A woman who claims to be Kyle's illegitimate half-sister appears. Hannibal isn't as taken with her as Kyle and his family are. He begins to investigate her as well. The story twists and turns before the surprising conclusion. I must say that this book is not the type I normally read, but I devoured it in two days. It is great. I highly recommend it. I liked the fact it was set in DC which I know, but I also liked that it moved around to Texas and Mexico, places I've never been. I look forward to more Hannibal Jones in the future. I highly recommend this book.

Throw Away Your Map,
By P.B.Ryter (MD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood and Bone (Paperback)
Throw away your map, it will do you no good on the switchbacks of Mr. Camacho's plots. When Hannibal Jones takes the wheel, just hold on tight and enjoy the ever-changing view until you careen around the last corner, crest the final rise, and screech to a halt because, alas, the ride is over. You never know where the trail is leading, but when you look back the way you came, it is all laid out for you. The ending is satisfying, and a good one--no rabbits pulled out of hats, no cheap tricks. Hannibal Jones is a gritty guardian angel, and his struggles to clean up any corner of the world he touches--starting, literally, in his own back yard--make for page-turning books. Which reminds me, I only came online to complete my collection of Mr. Camacho's books--gotta go!

An Exciting Tale and an Awesome Hero,
By Lois H (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood and Bone (Paperback)
Hannibal Jones is not your typical PI. He's not your typical action hero. He is a true "troubleshooter" and is written to be smart, passionate and intriguing. I met the author while visiting Columbia, MD and I found the description of my former stomping grounds of Baltimore and Washington DC interesting. I bought both of Mr. Camacho's books at a book signing at Wine in the Woods and once I got into Blood and Bone, I couldn't believe how wonderfully the characters were written and the story kept me guessing until the end.

Blood and Bone,
By C. Harvel (Columbia, Maryland USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood and Bone (Paperback)
I really enjoyed the mystery! I am not a mystery reader. I usually read non-fiction, science fiction, fantasy or historical fiction - the last mystery novel I tried to read was one by Margaret Truman and I quit in the middle. "Blood and Bone" really kept my interest. I wanted to learn more about the main character, Hannibal Jones, and I liked the detailed references to the Washington Baltimore area (I grew up and now live in the area and I enjoyed following Hannibal to familiar places).

New Book Reviews - Austin Camacho is a very talented writer and exceptional story teller. His characters are believable, real, and compassionate and the storyline drives itself. Blood and Bone has all the qualities of any best selling mystery novel out there and is a must-read for anyone interested in this genre. Penny Sansevieri - New Book Reviews

Non-stop suspense,
By Charles Sheehan-Miles "Author of Republic: A ... (Atlanta, Georgia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood and Bone (Paperback)
Austin Camacho's Blood and Bone was the first mystery I've read in some time, and I left it wanting more. Set in the Washington/Baltimore area, the book maintains a strong level of suspense throughout, and is a quick and interesting read. Camacho draws his characters with good attention to detail, and they stayed vivid even several weeks after reading the book. The book also carried a strong sense of place, with the settings in Baltimore, DC and in Mexico drawn vividly and crisply. A quick read and one well worth picking up. I'll be watching for future work from Austin Camacho.

Grisham meets Shaft,
By
This review is from: Blood and Bone (Paperback)
B & B combines the plot twists and suspense of a John Grisham novel with the attitude and punch of a Shaft movie. Any fan of mystery/action stories should enjoy this book, which is fast-moving and surprisingly complex for a story of less than 200 pages. By my count there are more than 20 significant characters in the book who are all inter-related to each other in some way, often in multiple ways. This complexity makes the ending to the story impossible to predict -- unless, of course, you make a lucky guess.Readers familiar with the Washington DC metro area will also appreciate the real-life local settings in which much of the story unfolds.

I never would have guessed!,
By Dee Baker (Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood and Bone (Paperback)
And didn't guess who it was until the very end. This author's talent is deffinitely up there with the current leaders of mystery writing. I felt the need to keep it close just in case I would have 5 minutes to sink back into it. I never thought I could be stumped again, but I've finally found an author who can give me a read for my money! If you find yourself reading trite and obvious mysteries with endings that leave you wondering why you bothered, you have GOT to read Blood and Bone, its a REAL mystery! I can't wait to get my hands on more from this new author. When and where can I get more?

The plot of Blood and Bone gripped me, compelling me to read further and further. The hero, for all his toughness, captured me with his compassion. I'd recommend this book to anyone with a thirst to be challenged and entertained.
