THE BEGOTTEN SON,
By Joy B. (Miami, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood of My Brother III (The Begotten Son) (Paperback)
ZOE AND YUSUF'S BLOOD OF MY BROTHER THE BEGOTTEN SON IS WONDERFUL. THE ENDING? WAS PROBABLY THE BEST I'VE SEEN IN A BOOK THAT YOU CAN'T SEE COMING AT ALL THROUGH THE WHOLE BOOK. BUT THIS HAS TO CONTINUE AND LET US SEE WHAT HAPPENS. THERE HAS TO BE A 4TH BOOK IN THIS SERIES AND I HOPE THE AUTHORS DELIVER IT LIKE THEY HAVE WITH EACH OF THEIR BOOKS. ROC HANDLED HIS BIZ LIKE A MAN AND YOU FIND WHERE HIS LOYALTY IS. I AM HAPPY THEY INCLUDED A TEASER OF THEIR DEFINITION OF A MAN BOOK WHICH LOOKS LIKE ITS GOING TO BE GREAT.THANK YOU ZOE AND YUSUF WOODS.

What we were finally awaiting has now made it to the depts of our contiousness "Blood of my Brother part 3." The ending of this triology had me anticipating one thing and on the other hand had me stating "Say it ain't so." you will finally find out who did what, why and how they (Roc and his crew) put it down. Zoe & Yusuf T. Woods have put a new meaning to the streets of urban lit in this triology. Great Read!

Finally read all three books in this series it was very entertaining and kept you wanting to find out how it would end. So many twist and turns i had to go back a few times to reread a few passages but this story was off the hook. it looks like there maybe a part 4 the way the story ended but who knows maybe that is left up in the air for us to figure out what will happen next

Roc never felt the need to justify any of his actions until his younger brother Lil Mac get's in the game gets out the game and is gunned down right in front of the University they finally got him to attend. After planning his youngest and only blood brothers funeral Roc is torn, he goes back to his mentor and in his memory bank to things their father taught him that all brought him to this point in his life. It has Roc thinking did I really have to live this type of life? The sad answer is Yes, he was destined to be the biggest hustler North Philly has seen since his mentor Mr. Holmes. With all his old friends by his side Roc sets out to set things straight for his family and to find a piece of mind from all the killings.
I must say usually the 3rd part of a story has me done already, but Yusef and Zoe Woods has me wanting a part 4 just because the characters are so vivid the story is told with so much passion it's well worth reading a part 4.

Roc has a real creative mind, very intelligent street personality. He is definitely a big part of this Corporation. You couldn't ask for anything more. I notice that at the end of the book Mr. Holmes still have some surprises, I guess there is a book 4. There's a synopsis on the book " The Definition of a Man" at the end that relates to Blood of my Brother I wonder how that plays a role? A good read.

Checkmate!!!!!,

This review is from: Blood of My Brother III (The Begotten Son) (Paperback)
To avenge his brother's death Roc must take on his mentor, Mr. Holmes. Is the student ready to battle the teacher? That's the premise for the third installment in the Blood of My Brother series. Once again authors Zoe & Yusuf Woods masterfully weave an intricate chess match between Mr. Holmes and Roc with the end result being death instead of checkmate.
Roc is officially back in the game along with his faithful crew. Roc has also linked up with his fallen brother's Get Money Clique who are just as thirsty to retaliate for the death of Solo aka Lil Mac. But Mr. Holmes isn't to be outmanned or outgunned and he still has several moves to make, rather pawns to put into play. Both men utilize every resource imaginable in order to secure their position within the Corporation while at the same time eliminate each other. Readers of the first two books will undoubtedly enjoy Blood of My Brother III which is a fitting end to a pleasurable series. Although the door was left slightly ajar for another sequel I do hope that this series is complete. At this point I'm fully looking forward to revisiting some of my favorite characters like Boggy in The Definition of a Man which has a small but alluring excerpt at the end of this book.
