4.0 out of 5 stars This is a strong but flawed presentation of this wonderful m
Blood Brothers is arguably my favorite show of all time. I've seen it in London and New York 15 times and directed it. Petula and the Cassidy brothers are among the best principals I've seen. 3.0 out of 5 stars Just another recording
This recording of Blood Brothers has such miniscule differences from the 1988 london cast recording, I'm not sure why it was made. THe voices sound the same, and there were only slight orchestration changes. The reason I awarded it with 3 stars is cause the music is good, but its not worth tracking this recording down, just get the 1988 recording. ONLY ABSOLUTE COLLECTORS...

Blood Brothers is arguably my favorite show of all time. I've seen it in London and New York 15 times and directed it. Petula and the Cassidy brothers are among the best principals I've seen. The music is moving and wonderful, and they sing it with sincerity and passion. The difficulty is that it is not music intended for a symphony orchestra, and the London Symphony becomes a distraction. It just doesn't work. Also, the music, by and large, is taken far too slowly. Despite these flaws it is worth having this CD just to hear Petula sing these marvelous songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sight unseen, a real pleaser., February 4, 2000

I've never seen Blood Brothers. In fact, I had never heard of it until I saw a biography of the Cassidys. I've been a fan of both David & Shaun for years. I've also enjoyed Petula's music. This CD is beautiful. The music is moving and lyrical. I love the Marilyn Monroe pieces and especially My Friend & I'm Not Saying A Word. I hope I get a chance to see a production of Blood Brothers, though I'm sorry it won't be with these three wonderful entertainer!

a couple of years ago i was able to see this show in london and it was fantastic. since then i have been kicking myself for not buying the cast recording there. but i just found the CD, not quite as good but still good. the songs are all great, so it makes it hard to choose a favorite. i recomend this CD to anyone who has seen the play, or even those who haven't because it is a great story with even better music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very powerful recording of a very moving musical., July 9, 2000

Willy Russell's musical is about a pair of twins, separated from birth, unknowingly became best friends, and eventually died upon knowing that they were brothers. I've seen the musical and was really awed by the believability of its storyline and the simplicity of its lyrics.

I have noticed a difference though--the music of this recording is a little slow than the music during the show. Also, the studio cast deemed it better to leave off some adlibs that are very important to songs that show a great deal of emotions. No matter; this CD is still worth your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars A marvelous showcase for Petula Clark, October 1, 1998

A fantastic show gets a marvelous cast album with this disc, which features Petula and the Cassidy Brothers from the Broadway production. Clark is magnificent, and both Cassidys do suprisingly well. This is the best cast recording of the show that exists.

Wonderful CD with a powerful, moving (if not sad) story that is told very clearly even if you haven't seen the play. Perfectly cast -- Excellent voices accompanied by wonderful music -- a must-own for soundtrack afficionados!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best blood brothers C.D.'s, October 23, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Blood Brothers (1995 London Studio Cast) (Audio CD)
I beleive this is one of the best blood brothers c.d's no matter what anyone else says i have 6 blood brothers c.d's and i love them all
Petula clark (this one)
steph lawrence
Barbara dickson
Kiki Dee
London orchestra and cast
New zealnad cast

i love everything about this c.d i love the orchestrations nd the accent i am from liverpool and they might not be te best liverpudlian accents but tey are ok

and to respond to another comment it will sound like the steph lawrence c.d because some of the cast is the same as on te steph lawrence c.d
Mrs Lyons = joanna munroe
sammy= Joe young
Linda= JACITA WHYTE
DONNA MAREI/MISS JONES = aNNIE MUSCROFT
Warick evans =Ensemble ...(narrator on stephs c.d)
Paul crosby = Ensemble...( mickey on stephs c.d.)

all of those play the same parts on the steph c.d so no wonder it sounds a tiny bit like it . or as someone else said they are identical .. i dont see how they are i dentical as the main 4-5 characters who are in most songs have been changed. maybe one or two songs sound abit like the other c.d
anyway i would deffinatly buy another five copies of this just to have on my shelf with my favourite musicals on it
