5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for a true BB fan!
Even if you are only a moderate Blood Brothers fan, there is really no reason not to buy this because it's so not expensive. But anyways, let's face it, the Blood Brothers are no longer together so you should try to get as much of their content as you can. I eat up all I can find. 3.0 out of 5 stars Live baby live!
This is a necessary item to have for anyone who's a fan of the blood brothers because they were simply one of the best live acts PERIOD.

If it's only a question of having something live from them then i suggest buying their burn piano island burn cd enchanced album that includes 2 live songs. it's not a dvd but it's still a live thing.

Even if you are only a moderate Blood Brothers fan, there is really no reason not to buy this because it's so not expensive. But anyways, let's face it, the Blood Brothers are no longer together so you should try to get as much of their content as you can. I eat up all I can find. I'll admit, the video quality of this DVD is not that great but I actually liked the underground feel. The audio isn't that bad. It is a recording of their 5th anniversary concert on 9/27/2002 at the Old Firehouse. The concert is about 40 minutes of intense thrashing and Johnny Whitney shaking his head like he has in every performance I've ever seen. Oh and for the ladies, and even some men, Jordan takes his shirt off and gets all sweaty. Johnny gets all sweaty too but just ends up soaking his shirt. The set list consists of some awesome jams including: Kiss of the Octopus, Jennifer, Siamese Gun, Doctor! Doctor!, and Cecilia and the Silhouette Saloon plus more. Come on people, for like $2.00 you can relive the good ol' days when the Blood Brothers were not broken up, it's totally worth it. Well, I'm gonna go watch my copy again!

3.0 out of 5 stars The Blood Brothers... On DVD!?, March 24, 2003
This review is from: Jungle Rules Live (DVD)
I knew that the Blood Brothers had joined a major label, which seemed like a ludicrous idea to me; nevertheless, I am anxiously anticipating the new album. For those unititiated in The Blood Brothers universe, they are a bizarre and spastic blend of hardcore, prog rock, and about a dozen other genres. The key here is spastic though. They also have two vocalists, not so much to cover two different vocal ranges, but more out of necessity at live shows. Because they spew forth their verse at such rapid speed and with such erratic dynamics, they need both to cover the whole spectrum of a song. I feel this DVD adequately captures the frenzy of their live show, although some of the more melodic sensibilities are lost in the raw live setting. Also, some of my favorite songs by them are missing (Piano Song!). Of course, that's just personal preference. If you are a Blood Brothers fan, you probably already have this, and if you aren't, go ahead and pick it up. It's cheap and if you don't like it, there will always be someone who will.

3.0 out of 5 stars Jungle Rules Live Simply Rules, April 9, 2011
This review is from: The Blood Brothers: Jungle Rules Live (DVD)
First off, don't be a fool and miss The Blood Brothers live and uncut. Jungle Rules Live shouldn't be viewed as a substitute to their live set, which generates an unprecedented level of electricity, or as merely the visual accompaniment to Burn Piano Island, Burn.

A nice array of songs from all three of their full-length releases was selected and performed live from The Old Fire House in Redmond, Washington, with a running time of forty minutes, along with three audio tracks, discography, and photo gallery completing the DVD. Jungle Rules Live aims to capture an onstage performance that packs as much punch and chutzpah as a compelling Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward fight. After seein' The Blood Brothers live, this DVD doesn't come close to that experience, but it is a satisfying watch. You don't miss a second of the twin barkers' convulsive delivery, dispensing freely off-kilter-guitar haymakers that feel like they can raise multiple welts on the skin--and uncontrolled fits as if the group is performing and strolling over red-hot coals.

Fair warning: the visuals display quite a workout for your eyes. The only hindrance I see with Jungle Rules Live is the spasmodic approach of a different camera angle every second (I always prefer a more stable method toward watching live recordings of bands). After a while it gets a bit much, and the nerve cells in my brain began to sizzle as I seemed to be on the brink of an epileptic seizure (maybe this is a good thing?).

You can't help but love DVD technology. I have but a few music-related DVDs in my collection, notably Fugazi's visually stunning Instrument and Pearl Jam's gritty Touring Band 2000. I highly recommend both. As for The Blood Brothers' Jungle Rules Live, it's not really essential, but for devoted Blood Brothers fans it's worth the price of admission.

Jungle Rules Live's force will knock the wind out of your sails with as much energy as a DVD can of a band that clearly blossoms more in a live environment than anywhere else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wow, that must be a really old show, August 14, 2004
This review is from: Jungle Rules Live (DVD)
I've seen the Blood Brothers live 5 times now and never have they sounded like that. I appriciate the "listen to the blood brothers live" aspect of it but the sound quality and the video is horrible. This kinda reminds me of Rumors Laid Waste. A peek at what the Blood Brothers have done that is not completely amazing. Die hard Blood Brothers fans...buy or download this. Everyone else...don't wast your time.
