Series is only getting better and better!, January 1, 2008
Daphne Urban and her Darkwing cohorts will face their toughest challenge yet...
The stakes are higher than ever. Terrorists have captured ten daughters from some of the wealthiest, most powerful families in the country. Unless their demands are met, none will survive unless Team Darkwing can find and rescue them. What will happen when Daphne, Benny Polycarp, and Cormac O'Reilly try to recruit new vampires to this critical mission? Can the terrorists be stopped before the girls wind up dead?
The Darkwing Chronicles is only getting better and better with each new book in the series! IN THE BLOOD is easily read as a stand alone as the necessary back history of the series is provided. We return to the core group in this one as Benny and Cormac play integral roles in the progression of the case. Who can't help but love these two characters, particularly Benny with her southern twang? The juxtaposition of Benny's Southern gal persona and her life as a vampire always makes me smile if only for the way Savannah Russe makes the picture fit.
IN THE BLOOD is quite graphic in some places, but not gratuitously so. IN THE BLOOD takes a much harder look at the evil side of terrorism, as there are some scenes that are quite intense. However, Savannah Russe never lets the reader forget the darker nature of the vampire, the nature Daphne tries to forget in spite of her platitudes about love and Lord Byron. Daphne's struggles against her vampiric nature take a new twist in this latest offering in The Darkwing Chronicles.
IN THE BLOOD continues along the urban fantasy line. If you are looking for a happily-ever-after vampire romance, then IN THE BLOOD is not for you. Instead, if you are looking for a dark, sometimes gritty, vampire tale tempered with lighter moments then IN THE BLOOD is exactly what you are looking for. Highly recommended!

The Series just cruies along, getting better.., January 20, 2008
I think the whole series from the very first book has just cruised along getting better with each book. I guess that shows an anuthrs growth, or how she is getting to know her characters. I recommend The whole "Darkwing Series" for vamp readers. It is,yet, another side of vampires . At times I find Daphne a bit too angst ridden, but,if I had lived all the years she has, with her mother...hmmmm. I am not sure I wouldn'thave take a nice sunbath on my balconey one day. Sheeeshhhhh!!!!! But I wonder, not that this is a real spoiler, in the last book, does she FINALLY end up with Darius?????
Add this series to you keeper shelf. they are worth reading more than once.

Was good but not great, January 4, 2010
Honestly this book was good but I can't get past where the vampires in this series that Savannah Russe created turn into bats. I'm not kinda new to the genre but this is my first book where the vamps transform. Was different in fact these vamps actually eat human food though extremely rare but they eat rare steaks. The detail put into the sex scenes was great I just wish the book had better detail with that same passion.
