EviL, EviL, EviL, EviL...I NEED A viLLaiN - A-HAAAAA! , August 8, 2008
I purchased Angelspit's "Blood Death Ivory" just a few days after it was officially released, and I'm glad to say that this album surpasses the duo's debut. With extremely sharp underground precision, performers Karl ZooG and Amelia DestroyX expanded their experimental sound with 11 new tracks of cyber-Dada techno beats and metalurgic sledgehammer EBM to assault the senses. Their lyrics, in the meantime, are far more naughty, topical and politically charged than those of 2007's "Krankhaus." Please proceed with caution.
In the songs "Lust Worthy," "Skinny Little B^%ch," and "Girl Poison," Amelia and Karl dissect the media's evil obsession with beauty. Particularly, this trio of anti-perfect anthems reveals how magazines, television shows, and overnight pop stars breed an age-defying holocaust that drives innocent young girls into a destructive cycle of eating disorders and poor self-esteem. "Devilicious," "Paint Hell Red," and "Kill Kitty" offer twisting cult chorus hooks of grinning cannibalism and masochistic torture stylishly clad in scarlet. Perhaps, however, the tracks that really deserve the most attention are "Grind," "Shaved Monkey," "Red," and "Homo-Machinery." In these four songs, Angelspit wages war against today's world economy by describing, in horrifying detail, its power to turn hard-working human beings into soulless androids. That is, by manipulating generations of white collar workers to obey the 9-to-5 norm, this system financially and spiritually drains the population dry, thus allowing dreams to fall to pieces beneath the crushing time-clock weight of a battery-operated existence.
"Your nothing more than a SHAVED MONKEY, build your tomb, MAKING GHOSTS OUT OF GOOD MEN. SHAVED MONKEY, burn it down, again and again and AGAIN."
In a recent interview with VampireFreaks, Karl ZooG said that the two people who inspired the birth of "Blood Death Ivory" were Cruxshadows member George Bikos, who provided extra guitar noise for the group, and Orlan, a female French performer who had multiple cosmetic surgeries to transform herself into a living work of art. Even more interesting is the fact that Karl and Amelia smashed several pieces of steel furniture for most of the percussion.
As someone who embraces the works of more obscure singers and musicians, I definitely recommend "Blood Death Ivory" as an essential CD to be added to one's collection. Hopefully, this will not be the last statement to be screamed and sung by the Austrailian anarchists.

Angelspit hits gold, August 17, 2008
I wasnt a fan of Angelspit's previous work but I thought they had a great look & a few songs here & there that were pretty good so I wasnt expecting much from this release but damn this recording is fantastic from begining to end & just gets better with each listen. The album is nonstop & relentless with its layered crackling hissing beats & the song writing is great also. This is like the best album KMFDM never made. I wish I could give this more stars. If you're a fan of this type of industrial dance type electronic music then this is a must buy.
