4.0 out of 5 stars Gory but hysterical movie, March 6, 2005
By
Nick Denife (Cleveland, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood Diner [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a sort-of sequel to 1963's BLOOD FEAST (which, by the way, is on DVD with a transfer and extras so good it's almost sinful), a movie that is terrible but almost as funny (unintentionally) as this one is (intentionally). This isn't exactly a movie for everyone - if you enjoyed BLOOD FEAST you'll enjoy this one. The gore is so over-the-top as to be hysterical - one of my favorite scenes is when Georgie throws the disco club bouncer out in the street - I'm not going to spoil it, but if you've seen this you know what I'm talking about. There's a lot of gratutious nudity and violence, which is surprising, considering that the director, Jackie Kong, is a female, but it is hilarious. Uncle Anwar's brain never fails to make me laugh out loud, especially when he's screaming at Georgie.

You should know this about the DVD, however - even if it is all region, if it's in PAL it will be unplayable here since PAL is a different broadcast format than NTSC, which is the U.S broadcast standard. If it's coming out on DVD in PAL, however, odds are good that it'll be released in NTSC as well. Keep your eyes open for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars SICKENING, December 13, 2000
This review is from: Blood Diner [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Yes truly sickening -- and I loved every minute of it. This film is both gross and funny in parts and its a shame its not currently available. The closest to anything like this on the market today would be SANDY HOOK LINGERIE PARTY MASSACRE produced by Mr Creepo. BLOOD DINNER is a horror classic -- I've seen it 6 times!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sick, Twisted Classic, March 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Blood Diner [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The first time I saw this movie was on late night Sci-Fi, and I fell in love. The movie was so stupid, and sick it was wonderful! I knew I had to own it, but no where around me carried it, mostly because it was only on a vhs that came out in 1987. I was quite dissapointed also, to find out that none of my friends had seen it. All of this was years ago, but recently i found it on here, and had to purchase it. It is the movie that got me into gory comedy! To me, after watching it a few times more, it was apparent to me at least, that this was on par for entertainment value, as a gem like Return of the Living Dead. I think that i will put down a nice little rating system...

Gore-4/10
Ok, so its not really that gory. Not to say its not as gory as beauty and the beast, but its not gory enough for a gore flick, and its not that realistic looking. The one thing that continues to give it a five is....
Humor-10/10
Why? Well because its just that damn funny. Whether its the Uncles brain going on about how his "severed member" is gone, and how it scewed things up for him, or its the nephew running over a fat biker roughly 20times and doing it all to the mambo song, the movies packed with laughs.
Overall-10/10
Why? because i said so!
