4.0 out of 5 stars Gory but hysterical movie
This is a sort-of sequel to 1963's BLOOD FEAST (which, by the way, is on DVD with a transfer and extras so good it's almost sinful), a movie that is terrible but almost as funny (unintentionally) as this one is (intentionally). This isn't exactly a movie for everyone - if you enjoyed BLOOD FEAST you'll enjoy this one. The gore is so over-the-top as to be hysterical - one...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!!
Yes, I didn't give this 5 stars because it's a tad sick, twisted, and unrealistic and disgustingly gross with how those brothers randomly kill people and use their body parts as food for their diner, but ya' gotta admit, the blood is cool and the movie's so FUNNY!!

Today's date is February 15, 2004. I watched this movie back in '96 or '97 when I was a sophmore or junior...

The gore is so over-the-top as to be hysterical - one of my favorite scenes is when Georgie throws the disco club bouncer out in the street - I'm not going to spoil it, but if you've seen this you know what I'm talking about. There's a lot of gratutious nudity and violence, which is surprising, considering that the director, Jackie Kong, is a female, but it is hilarious. Uncle Anwar's brain never fails to make me laugh out loud, especially when he's screaming at Georgie.

You should know this about the DVD, however - even if it is all region, if it's in PAL it will be unplayable here since PAL is a different broadcast format than NTSC, which is the U.S broadcast standard. If it's coming out on DVD in PAL, however, odds are good that it'll be released in NTSC as well. Keep your eyes open for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars SICKENING, December 13, 2000
This review is from: Blood Diner [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Yes truly sickening -- and I loved every minute of it. This film is both gross and funny in parts and its a shame its not currently available. The closest to anything like this on the market today would be SANDY HOOK LINGERIE PARTY MASSACRE produced by Mr Creepo. BLOOD DINNER is a horror classic -- I've seen it 6 times!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sick, Twisted Classic, March 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Blood Diner [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The first time I saw this movie was on late night Sci-Fi, and I fell in love. The movie was so stupid, and sick it was wonderful! I knew I had to own it, but no where around me carried it, mostly because it was only on a vhs that came out in 1987. I was quite dissapointed also, to find out that none of my friends had seen it. All of this was years ago, but recently i found it on here, and had to purchase it. It is the movie that got me into gory comedy! To me, after watching it a few times more, it was apparent to me at least, that this was on par for entertainment value, as a gem like Return of the Living Dead. I think that i will put down a nice little rating system...

Gore-4/10
Ok, so its not really that gory. Not to say its not as gory as beauty and the beast, but its not gory enough for a gore flick, and its not that realistic looking. The one thing that continues to give it a five is....
Humor-10/10
Why? Well because its just that damn funny. Whether its the Uncles brain going on about how his "severed member" is gone, and how it scewed things up for him, or its the nephew running over a fat biker roughly 20times and doing it all to the mambo song, the movies packed with laughs.
Overall-10/10
Why? because i said so!

5.0 out of 5 stars WATCH IT!, July 8, 2004
This review is from: Blood Diner [VHS] (VHS Tape)
When I was very young I remember renting this movie expecting a very bad movie. Well, it was.. it was horrible. Even though it was horrible I laughed my ass off the ENTIRE movie.

I am not sure what part was funnier. The naked chick who's head falls into the deep fryer, the infamous "van running over human scene" or the talking brain of "Namtut".

If you enjoy cheesy horror in the genre of Evil Dead 2, you definitely should get this. The only down to this actual movie is that it is NOT in DVD format.

This would be the perfect movie for director/star commentary.

Today's date is February 15, 2004. I watched this movie back in '96 or '97 when I was a sophmore or junior in high school so it's now been more than a few years since I last saw it that one and only time, but I remember enough of it.

One part that was really funny was when one of those brothers kept running this big biker guy over back and forth in his van. He wouldn't die! He kept crawling, trying to get away. After like 50 dozen or so attempts of running him over over, he FINALLY dies. All the while this funny 'mambo' music is playing while he's doing it. "Everybody do the mambo, HOOUUUU!" FUNNY!

One very funny but the grossest scene in the whole movie to me was when those Blood Diner brothers shot everyody up in a nude cheerleader video take. And then, with a reciprocating saw, they carve out all those nude women's vaginas??!!!! Sick yet funny!!

All in all, you'd probably like it, but again, it's does get pretty nasty here and there.

Someone please put this on DVD for the USA. I've never seen a funnier or more creative set of kills! This is an absolute blast and a great party movie. If I knew how, I'd buy the rights to this movie just to get it on DVD. Seriously, if you know how, hit me up at boxcarwilliam@bellsouth.net.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blood Diner, September 11, 2010
This review is from: Blood Diner [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Jackie Kong, director of the 1983 cult-classic THE BEING, presents BLOOD DINER, an unofficial sequel to H.G. Lewis' splatter picture BLOOD FEAST in which two brothers belonging to an ancient Lumerian cult open up a chic new diner downtown, where they serve up the locals in a variety of tasty dishes in order to prepare for a carnal blood buffet that they will use to resurrect their goddess Shitar! This zany, off-the-wall Horror Comedy has seemingly been forgotten in the two decades since its release, but its hilarious mixture of slapstick humor and comic gore makes it one of the most entertaining and under-appreciated films of its kind. Following the example set by THE TOXIC AVENGER years earlier, BLOOD DINER contains a number of outrageous deaths, including one where a bouncer has his head crushed in by a passing low-rider, and another where a woman has her head deep-fried before it is knocked off with a broom, while several other characters are impaled by stalactites, run over repeatedly, lopped in half with meat cleavers, or slaughtered in the ravenous bloodbath in the end! It manages to walk the fine line between camp and typical 80's cheese, coming out on top thanks to Kong's smart handling of the material and spirited directing, as well as the animated performances given by each of the cast members (including the tasteless humor of Uncle Anwar's disembodied brain). BLOOD DINER is an ultimate guilty pleasure, and a real treat for fans of 80's trash!
