This third installment of THE DRAKE CHRONICLES is told by Hunter, a Helio-Ra Academy vampire hunter, and Quinn, a Drake vampire. Students at the academy are mysteriously becoming ill and dying. And supposedly no one knows why. But Hunter knows something suspicious is going on. Meanwhile, thanks to Kieran, a longtime friend, Hunter is introduced to the Drake family and, more importantly, to Quinn. And while fighting his growing feelings for her, Quinn helps Hunter discover what is going down at the school and helps save her life. Okay, so I have to be honest. I remembered loving the first two books in THE DRAKE CHRONICLES but I couldn't remember why. I didn't remember much of the plot or any of the characters, just the overall feeling of liking it. And once I dove into this third installment of the series, I immediately remembered why. The story and the characters are just fun! I love the characters. Once again, this story goes back and forth between two characters, a male and a female. The story starts off with tension between the two and ends up with a romance. Throw in humor and kick-butt characters, and that's my kind of book! I had half of this storyline figured out, and half not. I guessed about the illness pretty early on, but not who was behind it. That came as a complete shock to me at the end. And I read in the interview in the back of the book that there will be another book in the series about Quinn's twin brother, Conner, and I can't wait! Excellent Addition to Great Series, March 2, 2011
I have gotten rather attached to this series, so I was pretty excited when I found this book at my online library. (I officially love my Nook!) I have really liked the first two books in the series, so I kind of already knew I was going to like this one. I also can hardly wait for the next book in the series! Which apparently, will be about Connor. The story basically follows Hunter Wild, a vampire hunter who was introduced in the previous book. She is a no-nonsense tough girl with an inner girly side, which gave her a bit of depth. She was raised by her grandfather, who hates all vampires whereas Hunter sees the shades of grey. She finds herself drawn to Quinn Drake, a playboy vampire who likes a good fight and a good time. After being thrown together several times, they are pulled into a mystery surrounding the vampire hunting school Hunter attends. Hunter's friend, Chloe, starts acting odd, another school mate turns into a Hel-Bar and attacks on the school are increasing. With Quinn's help as well as a crew of friends, Hunter is determined to save her school and her friends. As she investigates, she and Quinn grow closer and closer. However, her digging lands draws her deeper into a plot that could get her killed. I loved the mystery in this book and I was always wondering what was going on. (Mysteries make me super anxious. I am always on edge, needing to know what is happening). I also really enjoyed Hunter's friends, especially Chloe and Jenna. They were both witty, tough girls that added to the story. Quinn was always one of my favorites of the brothers, so I was excited to read his story. I also like that the book shows what is going on with Lucy, Nicholas, Solange and Kieran. Lucy and Nicholas were my favorites so far, so I like seeing them peppered into the other books. I would give this book four stars overall. It was a fun, quick read that I could easily see myself reading over and over again. As mentioned before, I can't wait until the next books in the series come out and to see how it all ends. I hope that the latter books are as good as the previous ones. I love the Drakes, finding their interactions amusing. I also enjoy the people they are paired with. Huzzah to tough heroines and dead sexy boys!

Don't Pass it Up!!!, February 27, 2011
Finally! This book is totally reminiscent of Alexandra Harvey's first book in this series, Hearts at Stake, and I'm so glad I didn't pass it by! Hunter is one tough cookie with a good dose of common sense, which was a great balance for Quinn's devil may care attitude. Both worked well together, and unlike the second installment in the Drake Chronicles, Quinn's point of view wasn't...stuffy as Logan's felt nor did Hunter have that much baggage. Hunter is a Helios-Ra agent who is attending her last year of schooling at the Helios-Ra Academy, and soon realizes something is not totally right with both her best friend, and her fellow classmates. A pill seems to surfacing around the school that is making the kids sick and vampires explode, and it's up to Hunter and her close friends to find out who's behind it without getting caught or killed in the process. Not only does Hunter have to deal with best friends gone loco, fighting Hel-Blar, and putting up with a happy vampire killing grandpa who decided Quinn would make a nice target, but also with her own feelings toward that particular vampire. As things start to get hectic, emotions are flying wild, and those Hunter once thought an enemy turns out to be her saving grace. This book is full of the same wry wit, and sarcastic attitudes that I loved in Hearts at Stake, and we also see a lot more of other character's involved in this one, which only makes it better.
