Book Description

October 11, 2011
With summer waning quickly before the start of his senior year, a family emergency forces Blue Knightly to leave his small Midwest town and travel to New York City to locate his rebellious sister. From the morgue to Central Park to the underbelly of New York, he quickly discovers the big city is the least of his concerns as he reluctantly takes sides within a warring faction of vampires to unravel the mystery of his sister's disappearance. In their underground world of abandoned subway tunnels, Blue finds himself falling for a femme fatale vampire whose vibe is seldom clear. Not knowing who to trust, Blue finds himself battling not only the undead, but his own heart, as the family crisis escalates and every decision could be his last.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"When reading the back of this book what comes to mind: Been there, done this story. But this book is so much more! Although it falls into the YA category I think it has something for everyone. Lovell weaved some great story lines with strong characters. Three words to describe this book: Edgy, Solid, Intriguing." - CrazyBookSlut.com

"If reading the synopsis you thought, 'just another Twilight spin-off,' think again. This one I found to be edgy and funnier. There are no shining vampires in here, just monsters who can kill and manipulate humans. You keep wondering how much humanity was left in them. I like such monsters." - BooksForLife

"Unexpected in so many brilliant ways - Characters, plot twists and the ending. Reminiscent of fast-paced screenplays yet keeps the reader invested. I recommend this to all lovers of the vampire/paranormal genre who want something off the beaten path. Also I seem to have fallen a bit for Blue." - Open Book Society

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a vamp book based in NYC!, October 17, 2011

Have to say, I am not a Twilight crazed reader. I did read the books and sort of enjoyed them mostly for the suspense and the mystical factors... but, the character of Bella really annoyed me. With Blood Drunk, I found myself relating more to the protagonist, Blue than I did to Bella.
More importantly, I thoroughly enjoyed reading a vampire novel based in NYC! I am a NY'er and the author really nailed the exciting pulse of New York at night. I have been looking for a book that was based in NY that didn't have to do with lame, self-consumed socialites or just historical accounts for quite some time. Blood Drunk totally did it for me!
Wow, I have to say, I am totally salivating already to get Blood Drunk for a second time. From the way the book ended (awesome ending btw) it seems I may just get the chance. Great read, never slows down. Perfect length. A few plot twists that you don't see coming. For the price... a total steal.

This a fun vampire novel with some new twists to the abilities/rules of vampires, without losing the good stuff (i.e., Twilight). Bring on book 2!

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense and Mystery and Vampires, Oh, My!, September 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great teen, 'tween, and adult read. Very fast-paced, amazing detail, engaging plot, fascinating characters and believable dialogue. From the first sentence you're off and running. Not a quick read, but you won't want to put it down, so prepare to push a few things off your plate so you can delve into this well crafted story. I'm a big fan of suspense, and this did not disappoint. I found myself guessing/hoping/supposing throughout, but it's so well written there were plenty of surprises. I liked the characters, too. Just the right mix of good guys, bad guys, and the ones that keep you guessing. REALLY well done! Sequel, please!
