Editorial Reviews

The band are signed to Black Records, a label run by Jim Chancellor and Gary Harris, who run and work Fiction Records. TEMBD have been around for quite a few years and have built up a good, very strong following here in the UK. They've supported Queens of the Stone Age, System of a Down, Placebo and Klaxons, amongst others. They've never been worked properly outside of the UK so we are virtually starting from scratch.

Eighties Matchbox had been away so long I was beginning to doubt they'd ever get back, the constant new album rumours were aplenty and starting to get annoying until finally, Blood & Fire. The album flows very smoothly and comes across as a very concise and refined snapshot of what the Eighties Matchbox sound and image has been on prior efforts. The band appears to be well aware of their strengths and weaknesses and have trimmed the fat. It really sounds like a matured version of that same band heard 5 years ago, the line up changes in the time elapsed has not damaged or changed the band's direction in anyway. A brilliant effort, it will be interesting to see what happens on the next album which will hopefully not been another 5 years!
