3rd novella in the Dangerous Ground series takes us to New Mexico where Will and Taylor go after an alleged terrorist. There are quite a few surprises plot and character-wise, lots of suspense and action as well as emotional suspense. Taylor and Will are navigating the up and downs with their own special blend of humor, sexiness, and optimism. I found all the books in this series to be quite intense emotionally and this was hightened by the intense action that is part of Will and Taylor's jobs at diplomatic security.

I hate to be the lone negative voice but this book just doesn't even come close to the level of Lanyon's other work. Seriously, the story is extremely unlikely (that is understating the matter) and there is little of the emotional content which makes Lanyon one of my auto-buy authors. The action takes place in less than 36 hours (if I kept track correctly), in far-flung places often with no or little cell reception and yet somehow the bad guys find a way to get there within the speed of light to cause mayhem, crash cars, etc.etc. The emotional development between Will and Taylor takes place as they are racing along dangerous roads, running from flash floods, escaping bad guys who are shooting at them and most of the time are in the presence of Hedwig. There is so much unprofessional behavior going on -- starting with the basic premise of the story -- and including highly inappropriate conversations in front of enemies, and a sex scene which they do NOT have time for, etc. that I ended up thinking less of both Will and Taylor. If nothing else, it was certainly was an illustration in why emotional entanglement between law enforcement partners is a no-no. Maybe it was supposed to be silly but if so, I missed it the joke. I love this author but definitely did NOT love this book!

Another enjoyable read by Josh Lanyon, who never disappoints. Will and Taylor face another adventure together as their relationship matures.

More adventure for Will and Taylor! This one, while enjoyable, didn't grab me as much as the others. When Will is offered a posting in Paris, for a minimum of 2 years, Taylor is feeling really insecure about his relationship with Will and it shows. Those boys really do need to sit down and lay it all out on the table. They spend too much time avoiding their issues instead of dealing with them.

I think I've read everything by Josh Lanyon. I love his characters voices. And I am going to make a point of writing reviews for all of his work. Starting with Blood Heat. Amazing, complex, and at times thrilling. Will and Taylor once again suck me into their lives and leave me rooting for them and totally invested in their relationship. I couldn't be happier with this read.
