1st of 3 great books!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
Blood of Heaven is the first of a series of three wonderful books with an entirely original treatment of the end days. Myers just may be better than Milton in justifying God's ways to man! Real people with real weaknesses are portrayed realistically in their trials to overcome evil with good. The characterization was as good as the plot, which is a rare find. The overall message was extremely thought-provoking and ultimately uplifting spiritually. I strongly recommend all three books: Blood of Heaven, Threshold, and Fire of Heaven.

Unique, suspenseful, and well-developed,

This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
A hardened, "dysfunctional" murderer becomes a sincere, suffering soul who senses others' pain intensely. Why? He is injected with an extract of Jesus' blood. Then...something proves terribly wrong, and a heart-wrenching internal struggle begins. Counter this dynamic with the protaganist's potential romatic interest--a woman who rightly is thrust into the ultimate "love/hate" dilemma. Myers combines crisp, driven prose with a cast of characters that are complex without being complicated. I cared for the people in this story--and sometimes that meant being torn between good people going in contrary directions. The pages turned quickly, as the author weaves spirituality with a host of psychological, moral and ethical challenges. Fantastic stuff!

Is faith more powerful than science?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
Is faith more powerful than science? This book, although fiction, explores that thought through a very real pursuit. I read the book in a day, not because it was light reading, but because it was gripping. The climax isn't what you'd expect... it's even better! Do I recommend it? YOU BET! Hey - I wouldn't even be surprised if they make it into a movie and Mel Gibson plays the lead. :-)

Blood of Heaven kept me reading on! Mr. Meyers not only replays the age-old good verses evil in a very contemporary and exciting way, but I think there's a deeper metaphor that perhaps he wasn't intending. It would be a great book for discussion! I highly recommend it to Christians and non-Christians alike. Mr. Meyer's characters always seem to be real people when I read his books; they're very believable. The only reason I gave this book four stars, instead of five, is that I liked his book, The Face of God even more!

This was my first journey into the world of Bill Myers, and I can't say enough about how compelling a journey it was!! I was glued to this book and literally couldn't put it down. Oh, sure, there were those times I had to fight myself not to pick it up..you know, like at work, on the road, wherever I could find a spare minute. Myers writes with incredible power and conviction, and you come to really care for his characters, and in particular Michael Coleman, who doesn't convince easily, but takes a chance by having the blood of Christ put into his own bloodstream and genetic make-up, thus altering the way he views the world and people. Of course there are the villains, and you actually care for them as well. Then there's Katherine Lyon, his sponsor, who he ultimately discovers was one of his victim's spouses, and the story blows you away!! I've been in the criminal justice system for over 20 years, and I could completely relate to this vicious killer - Michael Coleman - and Myers description of his profound change almost brought tears to my eyes and softness to my heart. There are other subplots as well, but I won't spoil it for you. This book is relatively inexpensive on Amazon, so you can pick it up without breaking your pocketbook. If you want inspiring, this is it. If you want powerful, riveting, and the rest, this is it!! Five stars can only minimize what I'd like to give it - how about 20 stars!!

WOW, This Guy Can Write!,
By
This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
Ever since my bout with a serious illness I've had a constant passion for "Christian Fiction" based novels. I am constantly amazed at how many different concepts writers can devise based on the life of Christ. This book is by far the most entertaining "Christian Fiction" novel I have read to date, and you certainly do not need to be a Christian to enjoy it. This book is in a class by itself. It is the first book I have ever read through in one sitting - it really keeps you on the edge of your seat! The characters in this book are so real they come to life before your very eyes. Absolutely superb writing and well researched. Thanks Bill for the GREAT READ!

Anybody see Terminator 2,
By
This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
It was hard to resist picking this book up and giving it a read. The idea was very catchy. The book went along fine (aside from being a bit short for my tastes) until the end drew near. The ending plot degenerated into something almost exactly mirroring the plot of Terminator 2. I wont draw the specific comparisons so as not to fully ruin it for all of you, but I'm sure any who read the book and have seen the movie will agree.and also... Too much scientific data? Surely not. It was all intro level genetics. The previous reviewer must have flunked a few bio classes in college.

A thriller,

This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book is pretty good---not stupdendous, but not bad either. Although it is billed as Christian fiction, compared with other Christian fiction books, there is not much of the spiritual aspect--bible verses, etc. This is Christian on the idea of WHO we are, and how our better nature can be brought out. The idea of a blood/DNA transfer to bring about genetic engineering is pretty current; although I will agree with another reviewer that at times the technical aspects of the book were just too heavy. And it's hard to write a book with a lot of technology in it because it is dated so quickly. The characters were pretty well written. I loved the baboon, Freddy; and thought that Katherine's trials were well written and believeable. I would recommend this book.

Page Turner,
By
This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book is a page turner. The idea is good, the characters are pretty good, and the suspence is entertaining. I think though, it could have been edited and tightened up a little and a few strings tied here and there. I enjoyed the main idea of injecting found DNA from Jesus into a killer and the changes that took place in his heart-but the book takes a turn when the opposite gene is abused by the bad guys. Good story fast paced but just a little loose in the writing and some of the language and happenings in the book. It is also labeled Chritian Fiction. It's not strong in the Christian area-it's kind of tossed in but in very light doses.

Characterization of Heaven,
This review is from: Blood of Heaven (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
I wanted to review this book because it is probably my favorite Christian book. I am a Christian, but I read almost a hundred percent secular books because most of the Christian stuff just isn't good enough, but this book is another one of the huge exceptions. Don't let the other reviews confuse you. This is not really that much about Jesus' blood, but about inner conflict. I don't want to spoil the story line so I will leave it at that. The highest point of this book is Characterization. The characters felt so real I it was like they were really alive, and I was watching their drama. This is an excellent book. I would recommend it even if you are of the secular audience.
