Editorial Reviews

Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old "halfling." Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts. When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base's general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection. ### Full Uncut English Dubbed Edition DVD

4.0 out of 5 stars mislabeled, October 30, 2009
This review is from: Blood: The Last Vampire (Live First Print) Edition DVD (DVD)
very visual film. beautiful cinematography. beautiful main characters. powerful tension, and the fight sequences were highly logical. .. my only complaint is, with the "first print", my copy had korean subtitles that cannot be turned off. the printing was quite large, and i found it disruptive and hard to see past/through. why it's labeled as "english subtitles", i don't know, becasue it's performed in english language with a few momentary scenes in japanese. something else to bear in mind: if you're a fan of the animated series, be prepared. this movie has little to do with the series other than the basic idea of who/what saya is. (for example, they never even mention the word "chevalier".)... i still highly recommend it. just don't get the "first print", unless of course, you need to read hangul

I like this movie! It was shot well (including lighting), and the heroine was great. The action was very good too. I'd like to see more of her and the Onigen charactor (her casting was perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth watching, if you like Kung Fu Fantasy, January 5, 2010
This review is from: Blood: The Last Vampire (Live First Print) Edition DVD (DVD)
This is a good movie for someone that watches a couple Kung Fu Fantasy movies on occaision. I liked the action and story has a plot. Catch is how many people actually enjoy watching this genre? The other reviewer is right the Korean Sub-Titles are in the way. The Last Vampire, Onigen, she is not really a Vampire, but a Half human, half demon. Hollywood will remake this movie. Worth a look. 4 stars
