Eerily, hauntingly great.!, January 23, 2004
This review is from: Blood Legacy: The Story of Ryan (Paperback)
This is one of those books that if you pick it up and think "Hey, i might be interested in that" then you should definitely give it a chance. The plot moves quickly and links the past with the present through a fictional race. (For those history buffs out there who also happen to like 'vampires' this is the holy grail of books.) Riann/Ryan makes an intriguing heroine and her interactions with other members of her race keep you reading. Just like other books that introduce a "world" within our world (like the movie Underworld or Harry Potter's wizards), you begin to wonder if what the author describes could possibly be true. Read this if you like dark fantasy, enjoy reading about fictional races coexisting with our, like historical fantasy (or historical references). Don't read if you don't enjoy multple time frames and continuous flashbacks, meandering (though not hard to follow) plot lines. All in all, a fantastic book!

Few can take something old and make it new..., October 12, 2003
This review is from: Blood Legacy: The Story of Ryan (Paperback)
Vampire books are a dime a dozen. You can find books about vampires, no, whole SERIES about vampires at any book store and online store too! Few of the authors can do anything new with them. Sometimes they have a interesting character or a twisted plot to work with, but few rewrite the vampire myth. Why bother? Kerri Hawkins has bothered. She embraced the vampire, changed it and made it her own. The story starts out with Dr. Susan Ryerson getting a body from the morgue that shows signs of coming BACK TO LIFE. The story started over six centuries ago, yet flows at a comfortable pace, keeping the reader happy and wanting to know what is going to happen next. All the characters are complex, with merits and flaws, including the so-called 'Villains'. I look forward to more books by the author set in the same universe!

This review is from: Blood Legacy: The Story of Ryan (Paperback)
I LOVE this book. The story is not really about vampires but about where people got the concept of vampires. The story is about Ryan. A girl raised as a boy because the people of that time did not treat the women with respect as they do now. Ryan is taken in by Victor & given the gift of immortality. The book goes from when she was born up to present day. Ryan is now a rich & powerful being who must protect a woman & her son because the woman, Dr. Susan Ryerson found out about Ryan & now mortals & immortals alike are after her. Like I said before, I love this book tremendously. I would recommend this book to anyone. It does not matter if you like vampires or not, this story will grab hold of you & not let you go. But do not take my word for it, get the book & find out. A few words that would describe this book is : EXCELLENT, BREATH TAKING, EXCITING, WELL WRITTEN & OF COURSE ENCHANTING! Sincerely, JenJayLynn
