Book Description

All aliens visiting Earth are not little green things with exaggerated, oval shaped eyes. That’s what Avani Darrisaw found out when she gazed into the honey-brown irises of Seth, a prince from Amarka.

Sixteen year old Avani always knew there was more to the story about this secret war her father fought in—a war never broadcasted on the evening news. But when Counselor Vivian Brashear came from Savannah, Georgia, to her home in Winston Salem, her frustrations mounted even higher. The woman tells Avani that an alien Star Warrior has chosen her to help him come to earth, and that he must have talks with her. Avani tries to shrug-off the woman’s comments as the ranting of a lunatic, but still, her heart could not deny the gorgeous stranger now showing up in her dreams.

Pressured on every side, Avani feels she has no choice but to have these talks with Seth. Soon, their meetings throws the feisty teen into a tail spin for more reasons than one. Seth is trapped in a sphere and needs Avani to save him. She'd have to agree to undergo a ceremony, the Blood Melt, where Seth requires a deadly evacuation of her blood. As if the Blood Melt Ceremony wasn't scary enough, if she consents to save him, a Walfarian Spiker, sworn enemy of the Amarkarues, would track and try to assassinate her. Find out whether Avani will risk her life to save Seth, and in return, how can Seth save her when he is imprisoned inside a disintegrating sphere?

About the Author

I am not a fan of horror, decapitations, or disembowelment. Senseless blood, blood, blood does not pump-up the volume for me. If somebody’s bleeding, it shouldn’t have happened because of an accidental walk into Jason or Chucky’s backyard. I like meaningful plots, something my husband and I can try to unravel. For me, there needs to be a reason why little Judy got her throat torn out—for heaven sake. Hi there, I’m Max. Welcome to my world of proses. I couldn’t be more honored that you are taking the time to get to know me. How awesome is that? A few things about me … I’m a Southern wife and mom with hopefully good manners and an occasional ability to be charming. I am enthralled by dreams and visions and how they come to inform, guide, and shape our decision making process. Please understand that no life should be controlled solely by dreams. Just know that the supernatural world co-exists with the natural. I like to write about happenings that earthlings cannot explain away—events challenging traditional reasoning. These events bring to the forefront of our consciousness an understanding that the supernatural is well … very natural in some realms. I like to recall true events and mix-in my untamed imagination. I hope you enjoy my books as I have enjoyed dreaming them up. And I do mean dream! See ya! Max

5.0 out of 5 stars A Romance for Women AND Men August 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
We all can't wait to turn sixteen. It's supposed to be a time of joy, new love, and the best years of our life. Of course, chances are, you never had to save a warrior prince. Avani isn't your average sixteen year old girl. In fact, she's something more and only she can help Seth make it back to earth. It's quite a tall order for a young girl, especially when she must risk her own life to save his.

What I really enjoyed about Blood Melt was that it was a romance that could be enjoyed by both males and females. There was a enough sci-fi flare to make this book enjoyable to men, but also enough romance to capture the attention of young girls. It's the perfect mixture for young adults of both sexes.

I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something new and unique to read, especially those that love sci-fi.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Blood Melt" stretches the imagination January 19, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I loved this book; it grabbed my attention and held it from the first page to the last. It had all the elements that anyone would enjoy reading: suspense, intrigue, danger and of course romance. It also has an interesting plot and the author undoubtedly has a unique and vivid imagination.

I am puzzled by the one and only bad review the book received. I wonder if the writer actually read "Blood Melt" because it does not deserve one (1) star. In my opinion, this book deserves five (5) stars. I hope Ms. Miller writes a sequel to "Blood Melt" because I would definitely buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very intriguing and interesting book October 13, 2012
Blood Melt is not the type of book that I would typically be interested but I decided to give this one a shot because the description sounded interesting. After reading, I have to say that the book did not disappoint. The storyline was interesting, the characters were engaging, and it left me wanting more. The description says that it's packed with intrigue, wit, and unexpected turns in the road and it delivered. You should check it out!

4.0 out of 5 stars I struggled during the first half of this book, September 6, 2013

as it seemed to be coming across as a really juvenile sci-fi attempt. I didn't like the characters much, and the awkward dialogue from the 'Spaceman' just wasn't drawing me in.

But the second half of the book began to catch my interest. There were a few wrong words and choppy sentences here and there, but nothing too distracting. The storyline was different, not the usual YA Vamp/werewolf book. The plot had decent action, the character development improved, and it had some sweet romance. The ending was good, leaving the story open for a sequel. Sure, it was corny, but hey, it's a Tween book.

I would say that it might be only an OK/neutral, 3-star read for adults, but is likely a 4-Star for a younger reader. Since Amazon doesn't allow half-star ratings, and since it IS a YA, I'm rounding it up to 4. Strangely enough, I can visualize it as a full-length Saturday morning sci-fi cartoon. The evil aliens and the weird Mother would be pretty awesome in animation.

More About the Author

I had reached the point of it being now-or-never for branching out into fulfilling my life long desire to write as a career. It was not just about having a writing profession, but creating meaningful moments to share whether in the arena of fiction or non-fiction. At this point, I am slowly edging up the mountain of my heart's desire.

At the base of the mountain, my right leg stepped forward, trying to find a level spot to discover my writing voice--it was not as easy as it sounded. What I learned was that the voice of my characters belonged to them alone and should not sound the same as the voice of Max W. Miller, the person.

"Writers are actors, performing their lines within the confines of the pages of their books."

I've made it through a few years of trials and lots of errors, finding out that I like writing in the children, young adults, and new adult categories. Each holds exciting opportunities for me to express my sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal nature. I hope that one day I can bring to my readers a smidgen of laughter, reality, and hope, mixed in a mug of a satisfying way to enjoy their down time.
