A rollicking good reading experience...,
By
This review is from: Blood Moon (Paperback)
A hilarious supernatural thriller entry. With a smart aleck cat, and powers she doesn't know how to control will our favorite little witch, Poppy, find herself in over her head? All I can say is you must read this romp to find out. Filled with more super and preternatural critters than you could shake a stick at, Blood Moon, keeps the thrills a-coming. I really can't wait for Cold Moon...It'll be fun seeing where Kaeleigh's newly discovered talents will lead her. I do wanna know more about Jack Poet and also Whisper...glad that Danny shouldn't be as bothersome anymore too. With this book I found myself laughing out loud and having to read the sections that had me laughing to my husband. I'll make him a reader yet!

Midnight and Poppy are at it again!,
By Jarrod (Albuquerque, NM USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood Moon (Paperback)
Believe it or not, Blood Moon is actually a wilder ride than the first, Black Moon! Poppy Z. and her entourage are out and about again, and what a cast of characters we have. Vampires, werewolves, werewolf/zombies, zombies, witches, ghouls, gargoyles, hell-rats, immortals, and werebears, oh my! Those are just a small handful of the colorful characters we are given in Blood Moon! The story picks up six months after we last visited Poppy Z and crew. Somebody has put a contract out on the heads of Poppy and her family, and all hell (literally) is about to break lose as she races to save her brother from bounty hunters and unravel the mystery of the contract and the numerous witches who are turning up dead. With the help of Midnight the cat, Romo the Immortal, and a slew of other allies, Poppy gets to the bottom of things and helps to save our beloved world once again! Blood Moon is a clever mix of thrills, chills, romance, and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this second foray into Poppy's world. If you enjoyed Black Moon, then this is just what you have been waiting for!

My Favorite Monsters Are Back Again,
This review is from: Blood Moon (Paperback)
It's not often I get to read a book with all my favorite monsters: Vampires, werewolves, ghouls, zombies, Immortals, and an obnoxious cat, to name a few. It's even less often that I catch myself laughing through that same book. There is a wonderful mixture or horror and humor here that appeals to me and keeps me turning the pages. There is also a romance that is just heating up and I hope continues to in the next book. I don't want to rush the authors or put any pressure on them but when is the next book coming out!!!! I'm waiting! ;)

Witching Good Fun,
By
This review is from: Blood Moon (Paperback)
Blood Moon continues the saga of Poppy, a centuries old witch, and her merry band of misfits. Still learning to control an immortal power she had gleaned from Romo in the first book, she wades through comical results. Her sister is getting married, her brother is wanted for murder, her other sister has been stripped of her powers, and a brother/sister team reminiscent of a male and female Ranger (Stephanie Plum series) are available to lend a hand. As in the first book, Midnight the cat steals the show with some of the best one-liners as he trades barbs with a female cat. And again, Poppy's house keeps getting torn apart. She needs to build a cinder block structure. Fans of Anita Blake should have fun with this series.

A Fun Ride From Start To Finish!,
By Helene Ilg (Bloomfield, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blood Moon (Paperback)
It's not easy riffing on familiar horror themes, but in their sequel to "Black Moon", Michael Canada and S.J. Gaither admirably perform with wit and charm. There's something for everyone in this intriguing adventure...sex, gore, mystery, mayhem.....all told in a first person POV that's very 'reader-friendly' and evenly paced; quirky enough to be different, yet fun enough to be enjoyed by even the most discriminating of horror fans. Whether you're looking for a scary book to read on a cold, rainy day, or a fun book to read in the park, this is the novel for you. "Midnight" alone, is worth the price of admission! A true joy to read....I highly recommend it along with the first in the series. Very much looking forward to more from these two.

Pure genius,
This review is from: Blood Moon (Paperback)
Michael Canada and S. J. Gaither showcase their talent once again through the eyes of Poppy; a two thousand year old witch with plenty of supernatural friends. This book had me reading from start to finish. I could not put it down and it is a shining example of literary genius. It's getting hard to run across good old dark humor but fear not there's plenty to go around in this book. The many colorful characters of their world are reunited once again as Poppy tries to figure out who has put a contract out on her family. A very excellent read.
