Very unique and interesting read. If you are a fan of CSI, Cold Case, or NCIS and like the whole thing about what the dead body/murder details will tell and solving a crime then you probably will like this book.

A fascinating account of the history of the NYC OCME, which has managed to be the world's leading forensic facility despite the antics of corrupt coroners, the machinations of grasping politicians, and the best efforts of scheming outlaws. This lively tale explains how OCME -- which rests squarely at the intersection of crime and science -- was formed and developed, describes the colorful personalities who have led it, and details some of its most notable cases.

Interesting "history" of the NYC OCME but there was an undertone of name bashing. I expected to read more about actual cases and the physical aspect of the autopsies in lieu of the politicizing of the history. I

This book really goes in-depth on the stories surrounding these cases. A little more than I wanted to know. Not in the gorey or gruesome sense, more in the tedious sense.

This book was thoroughly researched. I am impressed with all of the staff at the OCME in New York City.

The professionalism shown by the pathologist's, the investigators, and staff is very evident.
I was and still am, in awe of the that performed, and continue to perform as a result of 9-11.
(One minor note-probably a printing error: The author wrote about the attack on Pearl Harbor has having taken place on December 8, 1941. Actually, it occurred on Sunday morning December 7, 1941)

Thank you Mr. Evans, for a fascinating look inside of New York City's medical examiners office.

I am interested in ANYTHING that has to do with medical forensics - so yeah, I liked it very much indeed.

Interesting cases from a very inefficient and nasty OCME in New York

The beginning of the book was interesting, but I felt as if the author lost interest and motivation by the time he got to the 90s... The 9/11 disaster got short shrift given the impact it had on so much of the city and the world.

I was disappointed in this book. Although the writing was good, the book seemed to drag on and wasn't as in depth as was described in reviews before purchase. I wish I would have selected another book in the same category! I was bored after a few pages.
