T.Q. Bernier is uniquely qualified to write this intriguing Caribbean tale. A French West Indian with a penchant for detail, she treats her readers to little tidbits of Caribbean culture from beginning to end. Bernier has risen to the challenge that historical fiction presents and given us a window into the West Indies of her ancestors. Bravo...and bring on the sequel!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I am from St. Thomas myself and so enjoyed reading about the islands. My father is a native of St.Barths and so that also made it very interesting to me. The author's descriptions were vivid and made it easy to visualize being there. It also shows what an inheritance means beyond the value of property. It adds more meaning to the saying, "Blood is thicker than water."

Blood and Parcels is an excellent book. It will keep you up at night wanting to read more, and it had me thinking about the characters all day. It is very descriptive and it would make you feel like you are actually there in the beautiful Caribbean. Masterfully written!

French settlers moving to the Caribbean to avoid the War in Europe, family trials and tribulations, survival, anger and revenge...it has it all. If you are of Caribbean descent, especially of French descent, this is a must read. Ranks up there with Mitchener's "Caribbean." Recommended reading for those who think the islands are just Sun, Sand and Sea...

As a novice, T.Q. Bernier has really outdone herself. Blood and Parcels was a knockout! This novel was intriguing and kept me so involved that I actually became a part of this story. It drew me in that I felt so connected with the characters. Great job T.Q. Bernier! You are right on top with some of the creative writers. Looking forward to the sequel!

I loved this book from start to finish! So colorful! The weaving of history throughout the story, plus romance and intrigue, heroes and villains all made for a tantalizing journey. Can't wait for TQ Bernier's next tale. I hope it's soon!
