Very good if you like this kind of film.,

If you liked "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Hostel", "The Hills Have Eyes" &/or "Wolf Creek" you will probably like this movie. Brief summary: Four teenage friends are on a road-trip together to an annual festival they all enjoy. Along the way they pick up a male hitch-hiker who turns out to be an Iraqi war veteran. Then they hit a girl who runs out in front of their car, and is already badly hurt & severely traumatized. With their car disbaled, 4 members of the group head off in search of help while one stays behind with the hurt girl. Well it all goes downhill from there. For these friends anyay! The 4 who took off on foot end up finding a ranch they later wish they hadn't! And the two left behind with the car have unexpected company. And not the pleaseant kind! We soon find out that there is a group of mad-men running this so-called "ranch" & that they delight in capturing, torturing & killing innocent people. (Yes indeed they are pros at it!) Sooooo, we get to watch these 6 people fight for their lives (along with some other people who happen to be be imprisoned on the ranch already). I thought this movie had more main characters than most horror flicks like this (or it seemed so anyway.)And one good point is that MOST OF THE FRIENDS *DO* GET AWAY. But just WHO WILL MAKE IT? AND WHO WON'T? AND WHAT GRUESOME FATE AWAITS THOSE THAT DON'T GET AWAY???? To find all of that out you will have to watch this flick for yourself! But don't say I didn't warn you!!!!!! For serious horror/gore fans only. And not for the little ones.

Hey I loved this movie. I knew when I saw the trailor of this movie that it was meant for me. B horror at it's greatest. There is nothing better than a psycho killer ranch movie. Yes this is a rip-off of Texas Chainsaw Massacre but who cares. This film is great all on its own. The actors are not to bad for a B movie and I thought they had a perfect combination of horror and gore. There really isn't any sex and that's ok the movie is about psychotic killers living on a ranch. There is really no need to put sex in this movie just to put it in. I love the mad house that the ranch is and the endless bodies everywhere you go. They have really done well in making the audience believe there in hell looking at this ranch. You have to see this movie if your a fan of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. These killers look like long lost cousins of leather face. Some of you will hate the resemblence to texas chainsaw Massacre, but I believe it could have been a great hommage film to all the great slasher flicks of the 70' and 80's.

I would have given a better score but for two things. Not recorded in 5.1 and the ending was too abrupt not well done. Now the good stuff if you like horror/suspense you are in for a treat. One of the best movies of this sort to come out in a while.Don't want to give too much away but trust me on this one.Just give it a look don't think there are are lot of copies out there so rent it if you have too.But you're going to like it!

This movie was similar to House of 1,000 Corpses. It is a combination of Texas Chainsaw and Blood Sucking Freaks. The movie has gore and is pornographic without nudity and includes one rape. The bad guys are well played and colorful, about as much as one can expect from a movie named "Blood Ranch." If you are a Rob Zombie fan, and enjoy mixing gore with philosophy check this one out.

scatted elements, that never come together . . .,
This review is from: Blood Ranch (DVD)
Blood Ranch (2006) has some bizarre characters, idiotic victims, and a number or horror clichés, but the film never manages to effectively put them together, to produce a coherent story or credible thriller.
A group of four friends travelling cross country, pickup a British hitchhiker named Alex (Daniel O'Meara), and then manage to run into, but not kill, a half-naked woman named Megan (Shalena Hughes), who appears to be in shock. Almost immediately, the travelers are pursued and rammed by a van. Their vehicle breaks an axle running off the road, but Alex manages to scare off the van with some pistol fire. Jason (Dayton Knoll) remains with the shaken girl, while four head down the road looking for help. As darkness falls, the group reach a ranch known as "The Web", and are invited in by a long haired dude wearing a bandana named Spider (Jim Fitzpatrick), and a large bald guy named Mute (Scott L. Schwartz). Once inside, Spider goes pirate, pulling out a sword, sending the group scampering for their lives. Back along the roadside, Jason and Megan, have another encounter with the guys in the black van, and after a really dumb standoff, are on their way to the ranch to try and help. Once the mayhem starts, the film becomes a disjointed series of badly acted scenes, that when strung together, don't really add up to a very consistent story. It is kind of a mess, as some scenes are actually chilling, while others are so badly acted and executed, that they are actually laughable. One of the original group, Val (Madeline Lindley) always seems to be in the wrong place. She jams a loose board into the ground to hold a door closed, and it amazingly keeps the door from opening for a while. When two armed perverts break in, they are overpowered by four women being held prisoner. Is this horror, or comedy? Spider is a genuinely sick psycho, and is responsible for the most brutal scenes, which involve dismemberment, decapitation, rape, and a near fatal overdose of pretentions dialog. The dismemberment is quite graphic, probably blowing a large portion of the film's special effects budget. Spider proves to be a romantic, taking the time to establish an appropriate mood (using up what's left of the special effects allowance on dinner). Jen (Season Hamilton), seems to prefer hiding close to danger, rather than running away from it. While hiding in a closet, she is grabbed by Spider's masked retarded brother. She convinces him to help her to rescue Alex, then commits the meekest of kills. Instead of trying to help Alex, she goes back to hiding in the closet. It's hard to have sympathy for characters that are so pathetic and inept. Blood Ranch features a parade of perverted, semi-comical freaks, who aside from Spider don't really commit many atrocious acts. Maybe it's just an off night for them. The victims are either tied up and helpless, or too mentally impaired to escape, so there isn't real tension generated, by someone who is actually struggling to escape. The victims are in an extremely grim situation, but there is very little sense of life or death urgency. After being built up as a huge, vile, evil figure, for Spider to meets his end in a such an anticlimactic way, is basically cinematic suicide. The theatrically verbose Spider ain't much, but he's all the film has going for it, and to waste the opportunity to deliver a dramatic finish, just indicates how pitifully weak the screenplay is. There seems to be an unlimited number of perverts on the ranch, as well as women being held prisoner. When the storyline hits a snag, a new freak suddenly appears, or some poor female is brought out to be slaughtered. That's about the extent of the writer's creativity. Regarding Spider, humor is a factor in Jim Fitzpatrick's performance, but to what extent is hard to determine. Blood Ranch is a freakshow display that features some gore, and a few shocking scenes. Some scary elements are present, but the story around them is a disappointment. If the writing concentrated more on creating actual fear and tension, instead of just generating shocks, the film might be a more effective thriller.

I actually liked it,

I found this movie on Amazon and I thought the story sounded real good. Im definitley a "gore hound", the gorier the better for me anyhow. I found this movie to be pretty violent and weird (Which is a good thing in my book). Yeah, it is a low-budget b-horror movie but once you get passed that it really wasnt that bad. The script was half-way desent. I have seen ALOT worse. I like the fact that the lead bad guy had a ranch where his friends and him would kidnap, torture and kill pretty much anyone they came across in the desert. Its not Schindler's List or anything but if your into these kinds of movies its defininitley at least worth a veiwing.

Four friends roll through californian desert, heading to the BURNING MAN festival. They pick up an English hitcher, an ex-soldier, on their way there and stop to some rotten gas station where they take the scared owner's wrong advice to follow a shortcut instead of the main route.Of course, the short cut leads to hell, to the WEB, to the BLOOD RANCH... Enough said, the rest you gotta see.
The first time I've watched BLOOD RANCH I was in the wrong mood and I wrote some BS review about it. My sincere apologies to CORBIN TIMBROOK and to all the people involved in that great flick : BLOOD RANCH delivers on all levels and one got to be blind no to see it. The actors, the photography, the special FX and the editing are all on point. The plot is basic and borrows elements from TEXCHAS CHAINSAW and THE HILLS but what modern country survival doesn't ? The characters are strong ( victims and killers alike ), the suspens is there and so is the fear. There is also torture( nothing like DEVIL'S EXPERIMENT or even HOSTEL though ), rape, human freaks, nice babes, chainsaw dismemberment and a cool travestite dwarf. What else can we ask for ? More blood ? They don't need more blood, you idiot ! The bottom line is : if you love survivals and you don't ride big studios d!!ks, BLOOD RANCH is simply the place to go.

This is by far one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Horrible story, a complete rip off. The acting was sub par. The story was extremely stupid, the characters even worse. Do not buy this peice of trash that passes for a horror movie.

This movie moves SLOWLY, lacks gore and scare factor big time. It resorts to foul language and sexual inuendos to buy time. The movie was boring. There was a transvestive midget in it too. I really felt like there could have been more, a lot more. The props looked homemade and the actors sucked. Don't bother!!
