4.0 out of 5 stars Great Item
I didn't know i had to assemble it myself. You'll need another alum wrench and maybe a small mallot/hammer. other than that, love the sword!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good as backup NFMBFTKS, but not as primairy NFMBFTKS, April 27, 2011
This review is from: Blood Rayne Arm Blade W/ Sheath & Adjustable Handle (Misc.)
I have been a user of Ninja Forearm Machete Blade Full Tang Knife Swords (NFMBFTKS for short, pron 'nif-mib-fit-kis') for most of my career, and have some that are quite nice. As a professional mercenary and vendor of 'blood diamonds', 'blood coffee beans', 'blood Nike knock offs', and other 'conflict-zone' products, I find myself in need of a good NFMBFTKS regularly.

I was a bit disappointed for several different reasons when this product arrived at my secure compound.

First, this product is sold by a company called 'Martial Arts Land', which is the same name I gave to my home in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I wish the company had done more research into other entities who are also using that name before naming their company. The post office had quite a time, seeing as the shipping label read 'From: Martial Arts Land' and 'To: Martial Arts Land'. I hope they are not the people who have been getting my missing issues of 'Soldier of Fortune' magazine, as the 'help wanted' section is crucial to my ability to earn a living.

Second, when I saw the description of a 'hi-tech' strap in the product description, I was fully expecting something computerized and perhaps operated by hydraulic machinery that would maybe shoot spikes into the arm if someone besides the owner attempted to use it. Imagine my disappointment when it was shipped to Martial Arts Land (my secure compound in DRC, not the original shipping company, see how confusing this is getting?) with a simple Velcro strap. There is no failsafe in the weapon as-shipped to prevent an enemy skilled in the use of ninja weapons from taking this particular NFMBFTKS from you and using it against you.

Thirdly, I did not find the handle to be particularly ergonomic. After using this product as intended for approximately 8 hours a day, I have developed 'repetitive ninjitsu stress disorder' in my rotator cuff caused, I believe at least in part, to the lack of adequate wrist support. I saw an occupational health ninja who agreed with my assessment and suggested I spend hours on end standing under an icy water fall in the middle of the woods in the dead of winter doing ninja poses to help it heal.

All in all, I can see myself using this as a back up ninja forearm machete blade full tang knife sword day-to-day, or maybe on light trips to the grocery store or library, but I will not be replacing my primary ninja forearm machete blade full tang knife sword any time soon.

Pro:
Powerful Ninja Weapon
Machete Blade
Full Tang Knife Sword

Con:
Velcro strap not hi-tech
Lack of good ergonomics
Company name 'Martial Arts Land' is a problem, as I as my home address is also 'Martial Arts Land'

2.0 out of 5 stars Arm Blades Review, August 20, 2006
This review is from: Blood Rayne Arm Blade W/ Sheath & Adjustable Handle (Misc.)
If these are the Bloodrayne replicas, I weep for the series. However, these are quite a fun purchase, as they seem sturdy enough to actually do some damage. Putting them together when I opened the boxes was a surprise, and while it was tedious trying to put them together with the low-quality allen wrenches provided that strip quickly, it was fun in the sense that you have something to do with the manufacture of your weapons. The handle and arm rest are both plastic, although they seem to be a higher quality plastic than normally found on weapons priced similarly. However, the tacky part is the poorly made velcro (yes, VELCRO) straps that hold the blade onto your arm. My advice: get two thin leather belts you don't mind cutting up, and make your own arm straps. The handle works well, though, and they look wicked when you have them on. If you can find them locally, buy them in a pair if you have some spare cash. Otherwise, don't spend the money it takes to have them shipped to you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as exciting as I thought they would be..., August 11, 2008
This review is from: Blood Rayne Arm Blade W/ Sheath & Adjustable Handle (Misc.)
I think these used to be advertised as the blades from "Bloodrayne", because I specifically remember buying these for that reason. However, if you've played the games or even seen the movie you know these aren't the same blades. I knew that too, but I thought they looked really cool in the pictures anyway. If you want a real replica you'll have to find it elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong the price is really cheap and you should realize that when purchasing these. I've been collecting swords and weapons for quite some time now and these are probably the lowest quality items in my collection. Naturally you get what you pay for and if you want something cool for twelve dollars then this is exactly what you want. The steel isn't the highest quality steel you'll find, naturally that is reflected in the price.

Sounds like I knew what I was getting... so why the low rating? I don't know, something just seems too shoddy. Maybe it's the fact I had to put the handle on myself? Or the velcro strap that just seemed/looked silly to me? If you think the image looks cool and that's exactly what you're looking for then you won't be disappointed, but to me these didn't feel like fully imposing weapons. They really don't feel that way when you hold them. Granted you could never use these in a battle realistically, but, even then, it should at least give off some presence and I just don't think these accomplish that.

Furthermore these just aren't designed well enough that even make them worth putting on display. The blade looks cool, but the plastic on the handles throws it off. Who wants a weapon with a velcro strap attached to plastic on display? I really don't. Again, if you just want a cheap weapon to show off... then the price is right for you, but serious weapons collectors should avoid, especially if display is an important factor to you.

3.0 out of 5 stars White Elephant, December 19, 2011
This review is from: Blood Rayne Arm Blade W/ Sheath & Adjustable Handle (Misc.)
I purchased this item strictly for a white elephant Christmas party. I received the item next day using Amazon Prime (love it) just in time for the party. I was going for strangest white elephant gift EVER. I wrapped the large box in cute kitten x-mas paper as to deter any man from grabbing the box. Once it can time to pick this was the first gift chosen and yes by a female. She proceeded to open the box followed by more laughs and shocked looks than I have ever seen at Christmas time. I mean, who doesn't like receiving a fore arm ninja sword for Christmas?

This item was a total piece of crap but worth every penny I spent on it. Seriously people, $15 on something made in China? If you expect to use this for anything other than conversations starter you should not purchase. The blade is thin and flimsy and it would probably break in two and slit your wrist if you tried to use it during the zombie apocalypse.

Great for:
White Elephant parties
Scaring people at Wal-Mart
Making your wife think you are crazy

Not great for:
Zombie Apocalypse
Ninja Assassins
Opening Christmas Presents

Any "sword" you may find under $100 are basically made out of "trash metals", which can be chopped out by real knife at similar price. Although they may have sharpened edges, metals like 420J stainless steel are too soft for working blade; such metals are usually used for cheap kitchen knives.
Some sellers comment on such cheap swords something like "battle-ready" or "fully-working edge", but in fact, they are purely for decoration purposes no matter the edges are sharpened or not. If you need a cheap, working blade for some reason, it is better idea to get a camping machette. (Of course such swords can still be very dangerous anyway, but do not expect any miracle from the cheap metals. They are nothing more than toy.)

If you have man forearms then these will not even begin to fit you. IF you have little girl or kid forearms these will fit you just fine. Other than that they look wicked.

blade was great, sharp and treated steel. The forearm parts were made of a cheap plastic I fear would break if ever used.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy metal, residue on metal., January 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Blood Rayne Arm Blade W/ Sheath & Adjustable Handle (Misc.)
The metal seems high quality, putting it together was a breeze, and the grip is nice.
Though the shipping was a little hefty, the package that came was about 7ft high and 3ft wide, and when you opened it, another box about 5ft high and 1 1/2ft wide was in it, sort of a waste of materials.

There was also a sticky residue on the metal, still haven't gotten it off though.

I saw a reference to this item on a web site and it looked good. So I one-clicked it. It came a few days later. A piece of junk. I did a Google and found these for half the price.

It needs assembly, the screws are cheap, the final assembly is fragile.

I can't possible see how these would be used, even as a prop. It needs major modifications to begin to be useful.

And, the Velcro strap is a joke. The strap could not secure a water bottle to a bike frame much less a blade to your arm.

Conclusion: JUNK.
