This review is from: Blood Roots (Paperback)
I stumbled upon this book when it first came out, and although my reading habits are somewhat eclectic, I keep on coming back to read this one over and over again. It's what I like to call a southern suspense, although the spine reads horror. All the characters are richly portrayed, with a plot that will keeps you guessing till the end. To sum it up, Olivia finds a letter from her grandmother after her mother dies. Intrigued by her blood roots, she travels to Deveraux House and to her grandmother. She keeps her identity secret, though, and agrees to work as a hired hand along with Skyler, Jesse, Yoly, Mathilde, and Helen. Immediately she senses something not right, but stays, believing it her right to be in her ancestral home, and is drawn into a world of dark secrets which her mother originally fled from. Note* this book shouldn't be read by anyone below the age of 17 or who is immature.

I read Blood Roots almost two years ago and it still haunts me. It is a novel stock full of suspense, mystery, and lustful desires...Richie Tankersley Cusick did an incredible job, and I commend her for stirring my lust for suspense.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Definite Re-read., July 5, 2000

This review is from: Blood Roots (Paperback)
I loved this book, "Blood Roots;" what a thrill it is to read. I could not put it down. It was one of the first suspense novels I've ever read, and by far my favorite. All the characters and their feeling are richly portrayed, you truly feel you are a part of the novel. At many points I could only imagine what could possibly happen next.

I have recommended this book to several people and all have said they've read it twice or more. It is a real page turner and a truly original book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest books I have ever read!!!, August 6, 2011
This review is from: Blood Roots (Paperback)
This book kept me on my feet until the end! I loved this book and could barely put it down. It was very seductive, and descriptive. If I could, I would download it on my kindle just to read it again. I am definitely excited to read more of what this reader has to offer!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very enjoyable, June 30, 2009

This review is from: Blood Roots (Paperback)
This wasn't as good as I remembered when I read it years ago (this is actually my third time reading it). The plot is fascinating. Yeah it's disturbing, but I don't read fiction as a how-to manual or for advice. Even though I've read it three times, I still couldn't put it down the last 75 pages or so. What I didn't like was how Olivia's dreams meshed with reality, creating almost an inner monologue of nonsense. I just started to skim those parts. Still a fun read, though!

5.0 out of 5 stars Blood Roots, December 26, 2001

I have read Blood Roots several times since it originally came out and even had it autographed by RTC. I admit it is different from her usual writing, but you have to remember it is written on an adult level. I couldn't put it down the first time I read it, and I still can't even though I know what happens. An Awesome book by a wonderful lady.

I don't care what anyone else says... this is my most favorite book in all the world! It has everything in it from suspense, lust, horror, and mystery. I first read this book back in middle school about 15 years ago and I've been hooked ever since because I keep coming back to read it again. I just read the book again and I finished the whole thing in 2 days because I couldn't put the book down! It's just that good. This is indeed a very good read.
