This review is from: Blood and Rust: Two Novels of the Cleveland Undead (Kindle Edition)
I bought this first as the 2 separate books. The first book(Raven) is a vampire story set in modern times. Basically a detective wakes up wondering why he isn't dead after a major run-in with the bad guys. He knows nothing about the existence of vampires, and goes thru quite a bit to figure out what's wrong with him. And then he has the fun of figuring out the whole vampire hiarchy while trying to solve his case. I thought this story was great and did a lot of searching for other works by this author.
When i finally did find the second book(The Flesh, the Blood, and the Fire), given as the cause for Cleveland's Kingsbury Run murders, i wasn't nearly as thrilled. You can get a good set of reviews if you look up each book individually. Raven The Flesh, the Blood, and the Fire I hope that some day the author will pick up the story line left by Raven and keep going. |
