Editorial Reviews

Movie Description Completing an unfinished symphony carries some dire consequences in this gruesome shock-fest. Gabrielle (Jennifer Burns) works with composer Marius (Ben Cross) to complete a symphony that she has unearthed. But there seems to be good reason for the symphony remaining unfinished when ghosts and zombies begin to haunt the pair as they near its completion. As the ghoulish events escalate, further surprises are in store for Gabrielle as she learns some awful truths about her family. An effective B-Movie shocker produced by the legendary Roger Corman, BLOOD SONG hits all the right notes and will leave viewers screaming for an encore at the end! When examining an antique piano, the ravishing Gabrielle happily finds an unfinished symphony hidden inside. Because she wishes to have piece completed, she contracts a composer, Marius. As this tall, dark and handsome man works on the symphony, awful things start to happen: apparitions skitter through the corridors of Gabrielle's home... people turn up heinously murdered... the dead climb out of their graves... And the frightened Gabrielle has yet to learn the one ghastly family secret that could haunt her forever, if it doesn't kill her first.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmmm...don't blame the actors...The script needed work..., December 2, 2009
This review is from: Blood Song (DVD)
Look folks, I can watch anything with Ben Cross in it--including this flick. There are some scenes that were a bit much, but the script and direction are to blame for how this turned out. It starts out reasonably well, but after the first murder, it starts snowballing from there. The actress, Jennifer Burns was cast as the niece. The actress picked for that part should have been a little bit older...She looked like a kid and I didn't see that her acting was up to par (partly because she came across on screen as a spoiled child). I can tell you the best scenes in here were the sword fight and the one where Marius finds the maid (Beverly Garland) in his bed (which made me laugh). I didn't hate it, but I've seen Ben Cross in much better films than this. If the producer/director paid more attention to how the storyline was progressing and who to cast, it might have turned out much better. For example, this "love story" between Marius and the neice happened in about a few days from what the timing indicates on the film--NOT realistic. Was it LOW or NO budget? I don't feel that Beverly Garland did a good job either and even the acting with regard to the constable was a bit overdone...Ben must have needed money at the time, that's all I can guess. This is not the greatest movie in the world, but it's not the worst...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fair Deal, June 10, 2010

This review is from: Blood Song (DVD)
This is not a true dvd, a cd-rom. It plays well, and the movies are as advertised. I wish the clarity was better, but than I considered, this is not a digitally remastered item, and they had to start with a vhs tape. Not bad, in all, especially with the price in the equation. The shipping was fast and the communication is terrific.
