More About the Author

From the critically acclaimed "Blood Splatter", an in depth look at gore in zombie movies, to the Butch G. Cat Journals series of children's books, author Craig W. Chenery has both ends of the literary spectrum well and truly covered.

A lifelong fan of both zombies and The Muppets, his career path should not come as a surprise. He is well versed in both cinematic and literary zombie history.

Craig has written stories for numerous horror and Steampunk anthologies and horror magazines and his first major release, the award winning "Blood Splatter: A Guide to Cinematic Zombie Violence, Gore and Special Effects" was released in January 2012 to rave critical and fan reviews. The Butch G. Cat series of journals, co-written with Danny Renfroe, document the titular character's adventures leading up to the events in the upcoming major motion picture. The first two books in the series were released in September 2012 and the third book in the series was released September 2013.

Craig's latest release is The Comicon and Convention Survival Guide and is an insider's look at how to make the most out of attending a convention. Craig has used his many years of convention experiences to deliver the most in depth convention guide to date.

Craig has done voice over work on numerous films and recently finished co-writing the screenplay to The Butch G. Cat Movie, his first feature length film and is expected to start pre-production in 2015. He also performs with "The Gentleman's Club" Comedy Improv troupe who have been nominated for Arizona's Best Comedy or Improv Troupe two years running.

Craig was born in Ipswich, England and now lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife and daughter. When asked about how he would fare in the zombie apocalypse, he said it's hard to know how long he would last, but there would be a massive amount of blood and gore. He was unclear if he meant zombies or his own.

This IS the must read guidebook for any zombie movie fan!!!! Craig has not only watched the bulk of the zombie movies out there but he gives detailed information about each bloodfest flick. He has laid in your hands over 30+ in-depth interviews with actors, FX artists, and directors. You get to be part of his AWESOME and INCREDIBLE journey into being transformed into a brain craving zombie by one of the best FX artists around, Toby Sells. Yes THAT Toby Sells! Blood Splatter is the ULTIMATE guide to all things zombie. A great gift for all those in your life that love to watch the plights of innocent victims fight off the endless attacks of their blood thirsty, brain eating, flesh feasting attackers. Hours and hours of reading complete with countless photos and drawings of FX shots. Craig Chenery has taken the zombie film genre and launched it into the Stratosphere. A+++++

Craig Chenery has written the BIBLE of zombie movies.. I can't even imagine how he could have possibly collected all the information he did, but if you're a zombie movie fan, or even a movie fan in general, you HAVE to HAVE this book!!

Mr Chenery watched countless movies and has written statistics on them all.. including the amount of gore, the quality of the gore and zombies.. and then a moment by moment countoff of the gore and blood FX in each film.

It's truly a work of art.. and a work of love... and a masterpiece for zombie enthusiasts!

Love this book! First, this book is HUGE. It's not some little "pocket guide", this is a big book with everything you'd want in it. You definitely get your money's worth. The timed out "blow-by-blow" gore listings for all the movies is ridiculously thorough - pair this up while you read with an instant streaming movie service and you are in Zombie Heaven! The behind-the-scenes photos and production sketches and drawings from the production people, directors, and special-effects make-up artists themselves are WAY cool. Nothing else I've found gets you the insider's view of the industry like this book does. The interviews are all really good, I don't know how this author was able to get all this access, but there's talks with people we've not been able to hear from before...BIG names too.
If you have any interest in the Zombie genre this is clearly the definitive work. Honestly, if you want to get into MAKING Zombie movies or stories yourself you could probably use this as a textbook there's so much killer information here.

Any zombie lover needs to have this book in their collection. The movies reviewed range from mainstream zombie flicks to the more obscure and lesser known ones. I have added a whole load more to my "must see" list after reading the book. The book is an in depth look at the special effects, body count (both human and zombie) and gore of each movie reviewed. Add in captivating interviews and an impressive catalog of rare and never before seen behind the scenes photos and you have the perfect zombie movie guide. I can't wait to see what the author publishes next.

Fun facts and an abundance of zombie cinema's good bad, horribly and ugly highlights and low points, I would have loved some color pics but the black and white is sufficient.

When I first started flipping through this book I was overwhelmed by how much there was. Chenery didn't do a okay job. He didn't even do a good job. He did the best freaking job ever! The thoroughness of analyzing all the films and grading them was much appreciated and the interviews were stellar and very entertaining. The high attention to detail and consideration for not just well known zombie flicks, but super B-rate was refreshing and I appreciated it.
