"Thin Lizzy" key player, protégé turns into glam metal front man., June 24, 2008
This review is from: Blood From Stone (Audio CD)
"Dare" is the solo project of "Thin Lizzy" Keyboard player Darren Wharton. Formed during the late 80s and after the breakup of "Lizzy", "Dare" brings Wharton to the spotlight as the lead singer /frontman of a rocking band.
"Blood from Stone" is the band's second album originally released in 1991 and reissued in 2005. Experienced fans that have collected "Dare's" latest albums such as "Belief" and "Clam before the storm" should keep in mind that this is not a straightforward light rock album but rather a flamboyant poser rock performance that leans more towards the Glam Metal genre.
Although undeniably classic, "Blood from Stone" is torn while attempting to balance glam vocals, celtic "lizzy"- style melodies and huge guitars. Overall this album offers a bombastic aor classic under the predictable title of "Surrender" which is enough to make one perceive this release as flawless.
