The aim of this atlas is to illustrate the clinical and laboratory signs in order to help acquaint the general physician and trainee in medicine with the "side effects" of systemic diseases. The text serves as an illustrated guide to changes in the blood secondary to systemic disease, with emphasis on the blood signs of particular relevance to non-haematological trainees and specialists. An introductory chapter provides basic haematological information including details on stains and blood film preparation. Bone marrow and blood films are correlated with clinical pictures and pathology and grouped according to system. The text information is also summarized into tables. Each chapter covers the appropriate systemic diseases and their associated haematological findings, and in addition, primary haematological disorders which have a major effect on the system under discussion are also illustrated.
