I guess if I'm going to criticize a game, I should have a good reason to. The hidden object part of the game is good. The puzzles between levels are way too simple. Actually, all you do is click on this mysterious fragment that's supposed to activate some kind of power. I like puzzles that are more of a challenge than that. The game also didn't seem to last as long as others. I went through it pretty darn quick, so I didn't feel it was worth the price. Especially since you can purchase other games that last longer and are more challenging for the same price. I feel that this game had the potential to be better than it was. Of course, if you don't like complicated puzzles and you like short games, this game is for you.

A Hidden Objects Game Without Bite,

I loved the Blood Ties Series so when I saw this game for only $3 I was super psyched. This game really has nothing to do w/ the show other than the fact that your playing amateur detective (in the least sense of the word for this game). This is a hidden objects game and that is ALL you do. They use locations from the show like Vicky's office and Henry's apartment, but they don't even remotely resemble the actual location in anyway. And the game isn't long at all so I found it under whelming when they used the same locations over anad over and in several cases the objects you are looking for you had previously seen. So the Hidden part wasn't all that challenging. This game could easyily be finished in a few sittings or in under a day if you had the time. So basically if you have an extra couple bucks laying around its a fun quick game to pass the time.

The game is just the same old point-n-click. The whole game was finished off in four hours, and if you are good at remembering rooms you'll find everything pretty much in the same place every time. The puzzle at the end was so easy I got it done in a minute or so.
If this is your first hidden object game, it's okay for a start. At least the graphics are clearer than some of the other games with muddied graphics. (Or some that hide things in the dark spots, or totally behind other items) But once you've done a couple the story line in this one will just bore you. As well as seeing the same rooms with the same items over and over again. But really, not worth full price either way. Get it really cheap or find something more interesting and more challenging.

A no-frills hidden object game,

"Blood Ties" is a hidden object game based on the television series (which was in turn based on a book series). As a hidden object game, "Blood Ties" is minimal but nicely done. The artwork is nice, and the objects seem to fit in the pictures, unlike some games where it just looks like someone dumped clip art on top of a background. There are a number of small icons which you can pick up for extra hints, and they can be legitimately tricky to find. The music is atmospheric but not particularly memorable.
As a tie-in to the TV series, though...this game is not good. The plot is paper-thin - Vicki and Henry investigate fourteen members of a sinister club, who oddly enough all hang around in the same locations - and there's no actual investigation. You find random objects, you're rewarded with a puzzle piece, you click on the puzzle piece to make it glow. Spooky! Okay, I'll admit it: this game makes me crabby. I enjoyed the television series for the relationships between the three - yes, three - leads. This game gives us no interactions between Vicki and Henry, and oh, by the way, where the heck is Mike? It's not like the actors provided voice-overs or anything, so is there any reason we don't even see a picture of the guy? (Okay, correction: it looks like there's a picture of Mike on the box. Since I bought the game download, though, I never saw him.) Overall, this is an okay game but a lousy tie-in. It's short, too - only fourteen investigations, which makes the price seem a little steep. If you can find it cheap, though, it might be worth checking out.

I recently found out that I like to play story/puzzle games, and this game fit the bill. It is extremely fun to play. I could not put it down!

Boring, easy to finish puzzle game, nothing to do with "Blood Ties"!,

This was nothing but a puzzle game and there was nothing to do but to find objects in crowed rooms. The box had no description on it as to exactly what it was, so I thought I was going to be battling the forces of evil with Vicki and Henry, not trying to find objects! Bad advertising!! And the same rooms were repeated over and over again each level, so I quickly learned which objects were where and solved each level quicker and quicker. The whole game only took me 2 hours to complete!! Most of the time was putting those puzzle pieces together at the end. Rather boring game after you saw the rooms once and found the items.
Next time, make a game that is actually interesting and has something (anything) to do with the series "Blood Ties", cause this had absolutely nothing (I have to say it again, nothing) to do with the series at all!! Not even a glimpse of a character! You can call this a puzzle game, but that is it!! So glad I only wasted $10 on this at Target!! Never gonna buy a game again without seeing it in action first! |
