Book Description

In Blood Vine, bites are an inconvenient bliss, exiled vampires are wasting away, and the fate of their kind depends on the perfect PR campaign.

When public relations pro Zoey Porter arrives at an enchanting California winery, she discovers her sexy new client is the almost one-night stand she can't forget. After her husband's suicide, Zoey has vowed never to risk her heart again. But can she walk away from the intriguing winemaker a second time?

Driven from Croatia by his ancient foes, vampire Andre Maras has finally made a blood-like wine to cure his fellow refugees. Now he needs Zoey's PR expertise to reach them. After his wife's death, Andre has a vow of his own—never to risk another painful blood bond. And one taste of the tempting Zoey would bind him to her eternally.

His secrets stall her PR plans. Her jealousy is stoked by the blissed-out beauties leaving his bedroom. At every turn, he utterly fails to resist her. When she discovers he is a vampire, will she be lost to the golden-eyed Hunters, or lose herself to the emptiness in her heart, before she can help him save his kind?

Editorial Reviews

"Blood Vine is surprisingly original and erotic.  The love story between Andre and Zoey is scorching!  The story line is intricately detailed but never overwhelming. So if you like vampire stories with unexpected twists, Blood Vine is just for you. The ending suggested that there may be more books on the way and I hope that's true because this is such a promising start that it leaves the reader hungry for more."  --Open Book Society

"This is a great new paranormal romance. I adored the relationship that Zoey and Andre had and I loved how the seeds for new relationships were planted to be revealed in the next novel. I thoroughly enjoyed the battles, conflicts and twists on the vampire genre and I will definitely pick up Blood Entangled (the second installment) upon release." --Book Chick City

"I fell in love with Blood Vine-- everything about it. Belldene creates a rich, beautiful, complex love story that has amazing characters, a unique mythology, and lush setting. While this is very much a romance, Blood Vine is really more about creating a family, and Belldene has taken these broken characters and made them whole. This is one of the best vampire novels I have read in a very long time." --Bitten By Books

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious! January 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Zoey and Andre have broken hearts, but the attraction between them demands that they try again - ready or not. And they have to work together: Andre needs Zoey's PR expertise to market his wine, so that he can find his fellow exiled vampires and save them from a deadly wasting disease. Unknown to either of them, Zoey's boss is a Hunter - member of a tribe dedicated to wiping vampires off the face of the earth.
The mysteries and histories of vampires, Hunters, and Zoey and Andre entwine for a delicious read, one that kept me turning pages in a hurry from beginning to end; from laugh-out-loud funny to breath-catching tension to heartwarming tears. The characters are smart and multi-dimensional, the sex and the relationships out of bed are hot and believable, the dialogue is sharp, the plot rich and compelling, and the setting well-imagined.

Invest in a good red wine to sip while you're reading - you'll want to savor the experience!

I was lucky enough to pre-read this book, and I can't wait to read the next one already! I loves me some vampires, of course. But this whole world was so fascinating. Set in modern day California wine country, an ancient vampire and his household are trying to discover a cure for the wasting disease that has plagued his kind since their exile over a hundred years ago. He hires a PR firm to help him get his message out to a scattered vampire population, about a possible cure from his vineyard. Said PR firm is, unfortunately, run by Hunters. Vampire hunters, a clan that dates back thousands of years, now being run by brothers Ethan and Lucas.

Zoey is the firm's best PR person, and does not know she's working for vampires, or vampire hunters. After the death of her husband years before, she has taken life by the horns and remained matter-of-fact, driven, and cold. She is certainly not going to let her new client in to her heart, despite an odd attraction and the fact that she's been dreaming of him every night since a chance meeting and a failed hook up.

Andre feels the same way. He was bound by blood once, and when that bond was broken...well, he's not going to do that again. Nope. Definitely not.

Le sigh. Don't even get me started on Lucas and Pedro. <3

The characters are real, the setting is gorgeous. Some of the incidents are intense, so be forewarned. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

5.0 out of 5 stars So hot--and my husband agrees! January 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you're rather picky about the sexy books that you read--that it must have a great story and great sex together--then this is your next read. This story is about love destined between two beings (searingly gorgeous vampire hero and strong-willed and smart kick-ass heroine). But, it isn't easy. Haunted by their individual painful pasts and, inconveniently, by the vampire slayers, their love teeters on the edge of fulfillment. This book will grip you all they way through--so make sure you have some undivided time on your hands.

My husband's currently reading it, and he is hooked. Being sympathetic to the grip of the book, I've quietly placed grilled cheese sandwiches next him, so that he can indulge without getting up. Can it be that a vampire sex novel has made me a magnanimous wife?

There are gay men, lesbians and heterosexuals in this book. But that is not the focus of the book. Everyone seems to get along except for the war between the vampires and the vampire hunters. I was reading along and all of a sudden noticed that there were not just the usual one or two token gay characters, but four, who had seamlessly been woven into the story. I wish there was more written about them, but that it seemed like no big deal to have gay characters and heterosexuals interacting without that as the focus of the book, I cheered!

5.0 out of 5 stars So much love! July 31, 2013
By Gikki
Format:Kindle Edition
Blood Vine blew me away almost from go. Amber Belldene has created a lush and original take on the vampire romance, which is no mean feat in this genre. The setting is stellar, the characters are fantastic, the bad guys are actually bad...there is not a single bad this about this book.

The love story that develops between Zoey and Andre is beautiful and a bit complex. There is more than the "fated to love one another"- these two people heal each other in the most basic way and create something precious and worth protecting.

The secondary characters are no less interesting- specifically Lucas & Pedro. Talk about star-crossed. I can not put into words how much my heart breaks for these two.

The narrative is top notch, the sex scenes are scorching, Belldene does something new and awesome with an old vampire stand-by (having to sleep on your "home" soil- this is an old characteristic in vamp lit). This really is one of the best vampire romances I have read in ages.

On a personal note- Amber is a pretty awesome chick. She is really approachable and great with her fans- just a really down to earth and all round awesome person (that day-lights as an Episcopal priest! How cool is that!?!?)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great characters, Addicting plot. July 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
What really worked for me in this novel was the cast of characters. I love well-developed characters as well as characters that I honestly like. I got both in Blood Vine. I really and truly like this bunch of vampires and their "assistants" (for lack of a better word). Even with Andre's rough nature at times, I instantly liked him and wanted to know everything about him. Not only is he intriguing on his own, but I loved his relationship with his sons. This family drew me right in. Plus the other "housemate" secondary characters bring their own personalities and intrigue to the story. Amber really did an amazing job making these characters multi-dimensional, intriguing, empathy-inducing, and real, despite the fact that they are paranormal "people." Even the "bad guys" have dimension and depth and I want to know more about them. These characters scored big with me and make me want to read whatever other stories about them that are planned.

What also worked for me was the whole storyline. Even with great characters, if the story is lame then the characters are a waste. That was not a problem here. I have read several vampire books and I imagine as a writer it is difficult to come up with a new or creative plot. Amber's story of exiled vampires being bound to their homeland and the potential of this special wine to save them was really interesting. I loved the interweaving of winemaking and "chemistry" throughout the story. I also appreciated the community aspect of how much these vampires loved their fellow vampires and wanted to help them. This was also a great way to get to know the Hunters and their link to the vampires.

More About the Author

Amber Belldene grew up on the Florida panhandle, swimming with alligators, climbing oak trees and diving for scallops...when she could pull herself away from a book.  As a child, she hid her Nancy Drew novels inside the church bulletin and read mysteries during sermons--an irony that is not lost on her when she preaches these days.

Amber is an Episcopal Priest and student of religion.  She believes stories are the best way to explore human truths.  Some people think it is strange for a minister to write vampire romance, but it is perfectly natural to her, because the human desire for love is at the heart of every romance novel and God made people with that desire. She lives with her husband and two children in San Francisco.

Amber writes scorching and smart paranormal romance and quirky-hot contemporary romance--all of which draw on her interests in spirituality and sexuality.
