3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, March 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: In Blood We Trust (Paperback)
This was ok. I came here today looking for book 3 - even though this wasn't a favorite, I would have purchased it because of Adam. I wasn't happy with the choices of the main female character but I loved the fact that Adam, #1 male, was a vampire and a mean one - not too much sugar coating here. However, once he found Eve, his enemies found his soft spot. The plot was shaky, some words and phrases corny, some actions lame - I mean how many times do you want to read Adam say "I am Vampire - not mortal" and then he turns around to act like a love struck fool.

There were alot of typos. One that annoyed me the most would be referring to EvE as EvA for a few chapters. It was annoying enough to disrupt the book's tale to make me wonder about this insignificant thing. She wasn't referred to this all the time so I wasn't sure if her personality was changing. In the end, I believe the author meant to name her EvA and changed her name throughout book one and two and missed these few instances. Errors like this jerks the reader out of the comfort zone and throws them into considering things that have no meaning.

All in all, it's just ok. Normally I read a book this size in 3 days - these two took me 14 - so they didn't hold my attention and wasn't as action packed as I had hoped. There were no "real" steamy love scenes, no "real" gory blood scenes, no "real" dangerous action ---- no compelling story line.

3.0 out of 5 stars Together Forever, December 23, 2008
This review is from: In Blood We Trust (Paperback)
I do not know if I really believe in soul mates. I am leaning more toward it is a possibility. All things are possible in Christ. Adam and Eve were together before Eve was Eve and before Adam was a vampire. Now that Adam did the very thing Eve asked him not to do, she has to learn to trust him through the blood. Will Adam and Eve be able to get over the obstacles standing in the way of their love in F. D. Davis' In Blood We Trust?

Adam is a very strong and powerful vampire. No one defies his orders, unless they want to meet death. However, Eve is very unhappy with Adam's choice to save her life by turning her into a vampire and will stop at nothing to be mortal again. Longing to be loved and romanced by Adam, Eve is hurt time and time again; running to Sullivan for solace. Sullivan will help her no matter what Adam said. They are the only ones Adam did not scare easily. Who will be the one to help Eve feel almost human again, and at what price?

I do not know if this has ever been heard of before, but for me it is a first. I had a favorite chapter where there was no repetitious banter; instead I read action-filled page after page. Before that chapter the story was a bit slow moving for me, but after that it moved along pretty quickly. Since I was reading a galley, I can only hope the errors I came across were caught before the manuscript went to final print. I recommend In Blood We Trust to readers who like paranormal, vampire stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Undying love - (RAW Rating: 3.5), February 18, 2009

This review is from: In Blood We Trust (Paperback)
IN BLOOD WE TRUST is the second book in F.D. Davis' vampire series which continues the tale of Adam Omega and his love, Eve. After saving Eve, Adam takes her as a wife despite the fact he is not attracted to vampiric women. This poses a problem for the couple because although they love each other, Eve has needs that Adam cannot fulfill. This leaves her frustrated and drives her into the arms of Adam's rival, Sullivan.

Eve is attempting to acclimate to her new life as a vampire; she is distressed at having to leave her old life behind and her passionless marriage does not help much. She keeps busy working in Adam's lab developing an alternative food source for vampires that will eliminate the need to feed on humans. The formula seems to show promise and Eve is please that she has never had to prey on a human for substance. The discovery of a glitch in the formula jeopardizes Eve's health and it will take the combined efforts of Adam and Sullivan to save her.

Readers will benefit greatly if they start reading this series from the beginning with the first book, In The Beginning. IN BLOOD WE TRUST refers to the previous installment, but there was not enough background information provided so I felt as though I was dropped in the middle of this tale. Also, there was no reference in the book, that it was part of a series and I didn't discover that until I was viewing the author's website. The plot was intriguing, yet could have been more substantial. And I was totally confused by the ending, so I guess I'll have to pick up the next book in the series to find out.
