Alright on the stinkometer this game comes up with not stinking at all, an almost perfect 2 out of 10. (The higher the rating the more it stinks)

Why would I say a game is THAT good? Well, when I got it for Xmas I had no idea what I was getting into.

I read the back of the box and some reviews online all I got was Samurai...missing 48 body parts...how fun...I get to play with a parapelegic!

But that's not the case at all!

You play as Hyakkimaru a man whose been robbed of 48 body parts by demons as a child, but they've been replaced by some...er...better things.

For instance, he has two fake arms and hands, BUT he can take them off at the elbow to reveal two devastatingly sharp swords, he also has a gatling gun in his shoulder and a cannon in his knee...(keep in mind you ARE in fuedal Japan) So basically you're a war machine.

When you get new parts Hyakki also gets better, becoming faster, more aware of his surroundings, able to speak, see in color, run extremely fast, and so much more.

The game has a progressive storyline and let's go back to stages to tell you if you missed any "fiends" (if you defeat a fiend (boss) then you get one of Hyakki's body parts!)

If I needed to mix two games together to get this...you'd have to mix Dynasty Warriors and Spartan: Total Warrior.

This game has a very unique part to it, when battling regular monsters, if you hold triangle till Hyakki's sword glimmers and then release, you will enter about a 10 second mode where you have to push the buttons as they come up on the screen, the more you push the better reward the monster drops. This can be anything from a health boost to cannon balls to bullets to swords to anything!

Also if you ever played Dynasty Warriors and used the Mousou (it's when after a slight build up your character enters a powerful beserk mode where they decimate all in their reach) Hyakki does a simliar thing, however you can change his beserk mode by getting various scrolls hidden in the levels.

I've heard some complaints about the graphics on this game...the graphics are a step up from Phantasy Star Online, and they are fine, don't let anyone talk you out of this because "the graphics aren't the best."

Now the only DOWNSIDE to the game is this:

Sometimes camera angles can get tricky while travel, however it's not that bad simply because, when the camera should count (The boss) let's you always keep an eye on the boss, or if you don't want to do that, then it lets you return to normal view.

So, in closing, I am telling you to BUY THIS GAME. You will not regret it, it is VERY original and you aren't going to find anything else like it. So go ahead, shell out the twenty dollars (I think it's even less then that!) and buy this game!

Solid game. Camera angles can be a little off sometimes, but otherwise this is an enjoyable game. You're a undead-type ninja guy who is looking to collect his body parts that these other bad dudes took from him long ago. It's a neat premise, and makes for an interesting story. As you gain a body part, your stats go up or you gain a move etc. The story draws you in, the action is solid, and the graphics are nice and smooth. You play as this ninja guy with swords for arms, and you have a sidekick girl/guy (?!?) who helps you out. You can tell him/her (?) to help fight, or pick up nearby objects, etc. It's a great game overall and I'd recommend it.
FYI: Just won the game. Pretty short. No real re-playability. Unsatisfying ending. It's a FUN game but it wasn't very difficuly and it wasn't very long.

Of all the video games that I purchased for my PS2, Osamu Tezuka's Dororo (not Blood Will Tell, please. It's a horrible title) is my most precious for several reasons. One, it is an adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's original manga, the founder of the modern manga and anime, and one amazing storyteller. Having read the original book, and having read several series that he had drawn and also did in anime, I felt that the game's screenwriter, which also happens to be Tezuka Productions, really respected Tezuka's vision. Why, even though they gave a great importance to certain characters that didn't in the original story, and added an impressive twist, in the game's last chapters, which weren't in the manga, were extremely true to Tezuka's vision of life and to his storytelling techniques. A great applause to the screenwriter!

Two, the visuals of the game. Though they are not in high-definition and in high quality like Mass Effect of Final Fantasy, that didn't make anybody I know stop playing. The artists really gave a great atmosphere to the game with the colours, the landscape and the movie cut-scenes. A great idea from Sega to put some behind the scenes of the motion capture they used for the in-game cut-scenes.
And finally, I also loved the music, which definitely set the best mysterious atmosphere to this dramatic story.

My only let-down were, a little bit the camera which was sometimes confusing, but I got along with it by pressing one of the buttons to refocuse it more properly. At least it wasn't that much of a bother and it didn't stop me to play this game.

A great purchase for everybody who loves to play a game with a great story.

The fact that I'm the first one to review this game months after it has been out, tells me that this game is severely underpromoted.

This is a pretty good game for the action fans. It has more depth then a generic hack-n-slash, a good story and good gameplay. This game is mostly about fighting bosses, which there are many in one level, sometimes one right after another.

The downside?

Graphics are pretty bad. By any standard. If it wasn't for the graphics this would be the best samurai action game. Also the camera can get a bit weird at times, but no worse then other games. Certainly way better then Devil May Cry 3.

If in doubt, rent this game, then see if you want to buy it.

Ok if you are confused about the stars and the title I'll explain. I gave it 3 stars overall cause the game could have been better graphics wise and sound wise (voice acting sounded to cheesy). I gave it 4 stars for fun cause it really was fun trying to get all your body parts back. Which if you have no idea what I'm talking about then you need to pick up the movie Dororo it will explain a bit better. But for those who just want to read the review your father sells you off for power to demons as a child and then you get rebuilt with a new body and weapons and you set off to get your body back. Of course your older when this quest happens though either way it a good rental cause after you get everything back there really is not much else to the game. You can play through as the sidekick but its not much fun and the kid crying just got annoying after the first puzzle mission. Either way its good for a weekend after that there is not much else.

Great game. I never had so much fun in my life. Everybody in my family loves it.
