The 1st Part of a Story That Won't Be Finished, March 27, 2009
This review is from: The Bloodline Chronicles (Paperback)
I found the Bloodline Chronicles to be very disappointing, only because I really liked the story and art, and was genuinely interested in where it was going. The book, however is part one of what was to be an ongoing series, but went nowhere. This was due mainly to the publisher, Ibooks Inc., going into bankruptcy.
It certainly had potential. The art was top notch, very well inked. A few of the characters had similar shaped heads with just a different hair color, which I found annoying, but that might've tied into the story, based on where the book was going. I don't know.
It's very frustrating, because the story had many interesting twists and turns, and was presented in an uncompromising amoral style that I never seem to get tired of. Again I really wanted to like this, but can't fully because it's not a complete story, with no more to come. That's why I gave it 3 stars. Had it been a full narrative I would've easily bumped it up to 4 stars. But as it's not, I can't.
This is a trend among many comic issues. They start a long story and never get to finish it. The comics industry is littered with tons of half stories. So if you are planning one, and are given 144 or so pages to work with, make sure it's a complete story.
