Editorial Reviews

Three out of the five members of Bloodline are the offspring of musical legends. Drummer Erin Davis is the son of Miles Davis; Waylon Krieger is former Doors-man Robby Krieger's son; and Berry Oakley, Jr. is the child of the late Allman Brothers bassist. Bloodline's lead guitarist, Joe Bonamassa, may not be the progeny of a legend, but he is certainly the prodigy of this group. His rocking guitar on this album practically overwhelms the other members of the group, who are all fine musicians. Another excellent rocker, Warren Haynes, makes a guest appearance on slide guitar. Unfortunately, none of the members of the group, including Bonamassa, are a major threat in the songwriting department. The songs are forgettable and, regrettably, great musicianship cannot save run-of-the-mill songs.

Quite simply, a must have for any fan of great rock music with a blues feel to it. Bonamassa smokes on this CD, and every other band member is so talented at what they do. The second you hear the opening riff of Stone Cold Hearted, you know that you made a great purchase. It's a shame they only stayed together for one album, they could have been one of rock's greatest. My favorite tracks are Stone Cold Hearted, Cell Block 7, Calling Me Back, but there is truly not a single bad or even decent track. They all smoke, and it's a smokin' album, but that's not suprising since Bonamassa's nickname is smokin' Joe Bonamassa. Just go out and buy the album.

Picked this CD up for a quarter at a USED CD warehouse...by far the best quarter I have ever spent. This is one of my favorite southern rock-blues albums of all time. The only question is this - How do I get more music from this band?

I remember hearing 'Stone Cold Hearted' on a local radio station after a Dj mentioned who was in the band and who their fathers are. I literally ran out and bought this Cd. This disc rocks from start to finish. Not a bad song on this Cd. Check out the tracks 'Calling Me Back,' with Warren Haynes trading licks with Joe Bonamassa, 'Since You're Gone', a southern rock tune with extended ending and outro. Other tracks to definitely listen to are 'Cell Block 7', 'So Far Away', 'Get Off Your Back', and 'Stone Cold Hearted.' Joe Bonamassa, Berry Oakley Jr, Waylon Krieger, Erin Davis and the rest of the band make this Cd a must have for fans of southern rock / blues rock.

After listening to this Cd for the umpteenth time one wonders what the sons of Miles Davis, Robbie Krieger (The Doors), and Berry Oakley (The Allman Brothers Band) could have accomplished with Joe Bonamassa and the rest of the band. Who knows, but they definitely made a good impression with their one and only release.

I cannot tell you how good this is in this little review box. You can't box in Bonamassa! If you like Guitar Driven Rock, Blues, Blues Rock, Jazz - all from a very young guy who not only writes his lyrics but also his music and it's actually good - you want this. This guy is the most under-rated musician you have never heard of. When you hear this (hopefully through real speakers - not amped up bass boosters from hell) you will hear music - like it's the first time. I accidentally found him and bought 2 CDs.
Then I went to a used CD shop and bought the rest of his entire catalog (new & unopened) including the 2 CDs with Beth Hart and his first rock band's CD and his other pet project Rock Candy Funk Party. Then I found the DVD concerts and then the blu rays concerts. I'm tellin' you "Get up off-a that thing".........and buy ALL OF IT. You WILL thank me.....

I've been a Joe Bonamassa fan since 2001 when I first saw him. I now have his entire library of music, BCC releases. Trying to find Bloodline was a daunting task but now I own. The cd is what I expected from some brash 18 year old guys and I mean that in a good sense. It's a rocking cd that should be in your collection if you are a Bonamassa fan

Young Joe Bonamassa & (The Doors) Robbie Kreiger's son with a good rock & blues album. A must for guitar fans. This recording was too polished for my taste. It would have been better if it was more raw or a live performance.

If you're a fan of Joe Bonamassa, this album is a fine display of his rock roots. While a fine demonstration of competent playing with cohorts Berry Oakley Jr, Waylon Krieger, Erin Davis and Warren Hayes, the material at times is a little cheesy.
Having said that, the album still holds its place in my JB collection and demonstrates the formative years that led ultimately to the powerhouse playing that Joe delivers in Black Country Communion.

The "famous" sons of Berry Oakley, Miles Davis and Robbie Krieger (on no one's best guitarist list), deemed Joe Bonamassa "not cool enough" and kicked him out of the band after this recording. Where are the "famous" sons now? Anyone know? I didn't think so. Where is Joe Bonamassa? Oh, just touring the world and renowned as one of the best guitarists on the planet. This record is a throw-away, except for the guitar playing, so fans of JB will likely want to own it- but everyone else, not so much.
