Editorial Reviews

Review

Doucet's album Blood's Too Rich sounds to me as if it comes straight out of 1977 Doucet is a terrific guitarist, as fluid and melodic as Mark Knopfler back in the day; but he's a proper songwriter too. --Nick Hornby, NY Times Blog

Product Description

With its bluesy riffs and 1970s style artwork, Blood's Too Rich harkens back to Doucet's days fronting surf-noir trio Veal and to his youth spent admiring Neil Young, Howlin' Wolf and Stray Cats. The album also retells his tales of living at the heart of Country - Nashville, TN - where he wrote the record in early 2007. The album also introduces The White Falcon, the infamous white Gretsch and band. Blood's Too Rich won Contemporary Album of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Also available on LP.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a treat to see Luke live on guitar April 12, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
I caught Luke Doucet (and his wife Melissa McLelland!) live on their tour with CBC radio's The Vinyl Cafe tour in Cleveland - last night. WOW. What a find these two are! Their voices are each a unique treat, and his guitar stylings are fabulous. I was just sitting and smiling through the four or five tunes we were able to enjoy during the show's duration. No wonder the two received their own unique standing ovation at the conclusion. Grab this album, and the Thumbelina album by Melissa for a great sampling. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saw them Live in Portland January 6, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Never heard of them when they came to Portland. I bought this CD and just love it. Now its one of my Favorites. They have their own style of rock and that's what I look for. Come back

5.0 out of 5 stars It is what it is. October 25, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a superb pop/rock album with a wonderful sense of melody. The singer's voice is quite unique in a very sweet way and his guitar playing for its style is otherworldly which is a rare thing by todays standards. The lyrics are well thought out and paint you some interesting pictures though there are some weak spots here and there.I'll be curious what their next album has to offer, my bet is that it will be a good one if the first is any indication. That being said I eagerly await for the White Falcon to swoop.
