Book Description

Anya Millar had no memory of her life or an instruction manual on how to navigate the insane world of humans, biting, and reality. Instead, Anya has had to learn to navigate the world of love, life, and sanity while avoiding those that would see her dead or enslaved.

This is the ongoing journey of Anya and Nicholas, human loving vampires and the human they love, Declán. What makes it all more complicated is that they are abominations in their own world and Declán is a natural born vampire hunter called a Guardian.

Anya must come to terms with who she is and her missing past, Nicholas must win back the object of his eternal love while dealing with new cravings in his silent heart, and Declán must learn to destroy the very creatures that he has unequivocally given his heart and blood.

About the Author

Áine P Massie is originally from Florida, she now lives in Wisconsin where she works on her House Millar series full time while raising four children (the term herding cats comes to mind). Her major in College was Childhood Education (specializing in 0-5) with a minor study in Deaf Culture/ASL. She is also a Wiccan priestess dedicated to the gods, family, and love.

A life-long reader, Áine has always had a particular fascination with vampires, mythology, and the unusual. When she can escape from her children and books, she enjoys ... oh yes, reading, playing, ritual, a good cappuccino, and working with her healing stones.

Her first published work came in high school where she was part of a writing and drama group. But, she's been reading the likes of Shakespeare and Poe since late elementary school and enjoys most forms of fiction. Blood's Voice has been a long time in coming and with its publication (June 2011) Áine embarked on a new chapter in her life.

4.0 out of 5 stars A really nice surprise! August 11, 2011
By Idris
Format:Paperback
I must admit that before I started reading this book I thought it was like any other book about vampires.... maybe similar to Twilight, but in this case, the girl was the vampire and the boy was the human. But how wrong I was! Don't judge a book by it's cover! Because after reading several pages, I noticed that the story is more complex than that, and that the similarities with Twilight disappear after a few pages.

Blood's Voice tells us the story of Anya, a young vampire who suffers from amnesia, and who decides to start in high school. She wants to experiment a "normal" teen vision, and also in that way she will be able to learn how to control her cravings and learn how to cope better in the human world. That is when she meets a nice looking boy named Declán.... But her mayor surprise is when she feels an unknown attraction for him ... Also, we need to add to the plot a handsome vampire, who alleges that he met Anya more than thirty years before she disappeared...

This book was a big surprise that I wasn't expecting. Specially because of the story, which is quite peculiar. I had never read about a vampire with amnesia before, so I was a little bit skeptical at the beginning, but the story is really good. I wasn't expecting a story so full of mystery and twists. Also there were really nice characters. I really liked Anya and Star.... and I loved Nicholas and Declán ... It's too difficult for me to choose only one of them! : D

I don't want to spoil too much about the plot...so, what can I say? It's a really easy book to read, I literally swallowed it in two days, and I really liked it! I recommend this book to all those who love vampire stories with romance, and those who like to learn new languages and cultures... Yes? Why? Well, because the author will delight us with a sweet romance full of phrases and words in Irish. : )

Happy Reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Different twist on the vampire story. November 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
First of all, I had a little trouble getting into the book as some of the writing felt very formal. Once I got used to the writing style, it kept my attention and a beautiful tale of romance and redemption unfolded. Anya is a vampire who has special abilities that set her apart from the average vampire. An insatiable desire to protect humans emerges through the entire book as well as her blooming romance with Declan, her human love, and Nicholas her vampire love.
Some of the story is hard to follow and I feel some more back story of Anya is needed and hopefully will show up in the future books. One question is why she is so drawn to Declan. Is it love at first sight or something more? You never really find out in the book. But other than that, the romance building up between the two is extraordinary.
I like the issues of LGBT that are brought up in the story and felt they were just enough of a sample of that lifestyle to not offend close minded individuals. It was very realistic and I enjoyed reading more about it. There is a ménage de trois alluded to in the book so some people may be a bit uncomfortable with that part of the story. From my point of view, it was very well written and only enhanced the book.
I give this a 4 star review as it was a very romantic story with paranormal elements that drew you in with the intricate plot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blood's Voice August 17, 2011
Format:Paperback
Anya Millar is not your ordinary vampire. There aren't many like her. Most that are like her are destroyed because they are considered an abomination to their kind. Anya has color in her eyes, they aren't a black void like the eyes of others of her kind. Only the vampires that don't feed from humans have color in their eyes.

Anya has a special power though. She can hurt people with her voice. The Educators want to change her. They want to turn her into a weapon. They want to train her to use her voice to kill. They want to control her.

Anya has no memory of her life before now. She has decided to live among the humans in order to learn how they live.Anya has a love for humans and wishes to have relationships with them.

Anya is particularly drawn to one of the humans in her American Sign Language class. He is different than the others. She can't understand the pull he has on her. She spends a lot of time with him and his friends. They all become great friends.

Nicholas knows Anya from her life before. He informs her that she had been missing for 30 years until he just found her again. She was captured by the Educators.Yet Anya still has no memory of anything before waking up with Star, the bloodless that has taken her in. Star didn't know her before so she was no help with filling in the past for her. Nicholas, however, could tell her a little. She and Nicholas become very close as well and Nicholas becomes very close to "Anya's humans" although he didn't think it was a good idea to hang out with them in the beginning.

Together Anya, Nicholas and their friends have many obstacles to overcome. The Educators are trying very hard to get Anya back and finish what they started. Anya's friends are very faithful to her and she even finds some new friends along the way.
