5.0 out of 5 stars Martial Arts movie of the 80's., September 30, 2007
This review is from: Bloodsport (Audio CD)
It was the movie that introduced Jean-Claude Van Damme to an International audience. Van Damme plays Frank Dux, a real person, for whom the film is somewhat based, who enters an undergound fighting tournament to honor his ailing master who has taught him everything he knows. The soundtrack, composed by Paul Hertzog is quintessential 80's. The synthesized sounds, mixed with classic drum machine passes take you right back 20 years. Add in some classical Asian intrumentation and you have an extremely good soundtrack. Anyone who remembers the film remembers the three songs as well. Fight to Survive, On My Own-Alone and Steal the Night could have played anytime on MTV and blended in with the sounds and style of the day. This soundtrack, relatively unavailable for some time, if ever, sounds fantastic. All cues from the film are represented and are 100% spot on. Now all we need is a re-relaease of the soundtrack for Kickboxer (also composed by Hertzog) and your Van Damme 80's collection will be complete. In conclusion, this soundtrack is highly recommended for anyone who longs for the time when Martial Arts films were popular again and Van Damme was just breaking (no pun intended) onto the scene.

this is a wonderful soundtrack to one of the all time greatest martial arts films. i have both the original soundtrack and the 3000 copy version and there are significant differnces. 3000 version has the original version of fight to survive and own my own, alone by stan bush. the original copy did not and brought in another preformer to sing. also this version has the previously unreleased steal the night which was never released until this album.this album also has every single track from each scene. if you love the movie and the music from the movie, then pick this copy up fast. hurry only 3000 copies made.

Kumite! Kumite! Kumite!

5.0 out of 5 stars very moving soundtrack, September 13, 2007
This review is from: Bloodsport (Audio CD)
I've always been a fan of the movie and also the soundtrack. After all these years I'm so happy it is finally available totally uncut!

As a bonus there are interviews with the composers and they tell you about the development and instruments used. As well as how the film almost never got the green light for release.

Many of the tracks are on my ipod for when I'm at the gym or when I'm running. 'Fight to Survive' is always on when I'm getting ready for my final and heaviest set. Gets the adrenaline going!

Highly Recommended for anyone who is a fan of the movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars At Last! I can "Steal The Night", September 4, 2007
This review is from: Bloodsport (Audio CD)
Everytime I watch the movie, I love that part where Dux is running throught the streets chased by the FBI agents. That song, "Steal The Night", became a favourite of mine. I looked all over the internet for Michael Bishop and "Steal The Night", and came up pretty much empty.

Yet what is the use, when you like a song and it has never been released in any format...until now.

As if getting "Steal The Night", isn't enough, you also get it an instrumntal version of it as well. The score covers "Fight To Survive" and "On My Own", by Stan Bush. Now Stan is the man! I mean, this is the guy who has "The Touch", if you know what I mean! The score includes two versions of "Fight To Survive".

Ain't it Strange, when the the morning comes, you'll see the light, and when the night returns, you'll Steal The Night!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get a copy while you can!!!, August 2, 2007

There isn't really much to be said about this soundtrack. If you've seen the movie, then you know how awesome the tracks are for this album. This album contains EVERY SINGLE track used in the movie including a bonus instrumental version of "Steal the Night" by Michael Bishop. This soundtrack contains the REAL AUTHENTIC scores from the movie! As some of you may or may not know, THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK RELEASE FROM THE 80s (which also costs over $100) DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT CONTAIN THE ORIGINAL SCORES FROM THE MOVIE (i.e. "Fight to Survive", "On My Own"). It also DOESN'T HAVE ALL THE SCORES FROM THE MOVIE (i.e. "Steal the Night"). So why bother with it? Get this version. IT'S CHEAPER, YOU WILL BE GETTING ALL OF THE REAL MUSIC FROM THE MOVIE, and well, if you're a fan of the movie it'll be well worth your dollar. Get it now! I heard it was only released in limited quantities!

5.0 out of 5 stars The superior cd edition, April 14, 2009
By
This review is from: Bloodsport (Audio CD)
I recalled seeing this soundtrack released a few years ago incomplete (not all the songs were included and the 2 that were, were not sung by the original artists). I always hoped they would release it again complete and I am glad I waited. The mastering on this cd is fantastic and the liner notes are informative. I saw this film as a young lad and really enjoyed the soundtrack and now I can enjoy it in all its heavenly glory. I am pleased to hear Michael Bishop doing steal the night as well as Stan Bush (fight to survive and on my own-alone) those songs are worth the price of admission alone. Paul Hertoz was relatively an unknown composer at the time of release the other notable soundtrack he scored was kickboxer (heard it was released its OOP now) but he did an amazing job scoring the film given the limited time he was given and for that thank you for this terrific score diehard fans will appreciate it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real soundtrack - there are 2 versions, September 10, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bloodsport (Audio CD)
I have been looking for this soundtrack for many years since this movie has come out. In the 90s I noticed an album came out named "Bloodsport" but the songs were re-recorded by singers that did not make the soundtrack in the first place.

The version is the correct version based on all the songs directly from the movie. This is a must buy for people who are looking for the correct Bloodsport soundtrack. It's phenomenal.

Interesting. It's a perfect mastered copy of the music from the movie. The TRUE music from the movie. The flashback/montage track is great, as are the cleaned up versions of Fight to Survive, Steal the Night, and On My Own.

If you didn't like the music from the movie, then you aren't going to like this either.
