5.0 out of 5 stars Read aloud and think deep!, August 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Bloodstone Chronicles (Hardcover)
This book is a moving one so be ready to think! I love finding books that I can read to my kids and have a deeper meaning. THis book does that and even more.
When you read this you feel like you are seeing a movie flash in front of your imagination. Bill Myers does a great job of just giving us enough adjectuves to form our own images and make it our own.
The message is God and his love but done in a way that makes your heart open to see and understand the complicated mind set of our Savior. The author takes the complex thoughts and turns them into a modern day parable full of characters we can all somehow relate to.
Want a rich book that the whole fmaily can get something from? Want a read a-loud that will keep you turning pages as fast as you can say the words on it?
Want a bedtime story that will have oyur kids thinking deeper thoughts?
Then I highly recommend The Bloodstone Chronicles to you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bloodstone Chronicles, January 12, 2006
This review is from: The Bloodstone Chronicles (Hardcover)
The Bloodstone Chronicle, by Bill Myers, is a journey taken into a new dimension by three kids. Denise, Nathan, and Joshua, take an exciting trip into a new land, Fayrah. They meet things they never would have thought existed.
The Bloodstone Chronicle is a book based on the Bible. The kids meet three friends in Fayrah, Aristophenix, the world's worst poet, Lister Q, A purple dude with dyslexic speech, and Samson, part dragonfly part ladybug. Together these six friends take a wild adventure.
I thought the book was really good. I would recommend the book for both guys and girls over the age of 8. Though the book is a little long, the comprehension level is not hard. Every page has so much action on it. I definitely recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't put it down!, December 20, 2008

This review is from: The Bloodstone Chronicles (Hardcover)
When's the last time you would rather read than watch the tube? This book will bring you and your loved ones into a whole new realm of "family adventure". The author knows how to weave an incredible story(ies) that you will never forget. I read these stories about twenty years ago and wanted to read them again. I found them (four stories in one book) available online. Thank God for Amazon.com!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Christian Fantasy for Children, April 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Bloodstone Chronicles (Hardcover)
Bill Myers is an exceptionally gifted writer. His God-given genius for creating enthralling, action-packed, good versus evil stories will delight even the most discriminating of readers. Next to "Threshold" and "Fire of Heaven," "The Bloodstone Chronicles" is by far his best novel. This book has elements of Lewis Carrolls' "Alice in Wonderland," Norton Juster's "The Phantom Tollbooth," and Lewis' Narnia series. Comprised of four novellas, the book examines the growing maturity of three children who choose to rely on the strength of a higher power.

Denise, Joshua, and Nathan are three ordinary children. Each one struggles with the overwhelming hardships of real life: Denise grappples with the pain of her father's desertion of her and her mother, Nathan struggles with a crippled hip and his own spoiled nature, and Joshua, a lover of math and science, struggles with his intellectual pride. When Denise presents Nathan with a mysterious birthday gift, the adventures begin! The children meet three unusual creatures who whisk them away to the mysterious world of Fayra. The creatures introduce them to Imager, the mysterious ruler of Fayra and all worlds. However, the children are hounded by the malicious Illusionist, Bobock, and The Merchant of Emotion, enemies who will stop at nothing to destroy them. To say more would rob the reader of a truly enlightening and unforgettable story.

Travel with Denise, Joshua, and Nathan as they encounter mysterious beings like Aristophonix, (the world's worst poet), Listor Cue, (a purple, ultra-cool dude who talks backward), The Weaver, (who designs intricate tapestries), and Imager himself.

The audioversion of this book is read wonderfully well. Bill Myers is an excellent narrator, and the dramatic multi-voiced narration of the characters adds even more enjoyment.

Please give this magnificent novel a chance. Happy reading, and God bless.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT!, February 16, 2008
This review is from: The Bloodstone Chronicles (Hardcover)
This book was GREAT! My step-son was 10 when we read it together. I enjoyed reading it with him. It was so deep that we both enjoyed different things about it! It gave us lots to discuss after reading yet it wasn't difficult for him to read. I loved that there were Christian principals throughout! Yet, if you aren't religious, it is still a very entertaining series! Well worth the money! I have lent it out to a couple of other families and they have also LOVED the books!
