From Library Journal
Braun published his first novel in 1972, and by the mid-1980s, when Bloodstorm arrived, he had hit his stride as a writer of Western adventures. The hero of this tale is Cole Braddock, a manhunter with a difference: he has an office in Denver with a secretary and a stock portfolio! In fact, his reputation is so widespread that, in the best tradition of the dime novels of the past, he has to resort to disguises when he conducts his investigations. He also enjoys an exclusive relationship with Lise Hammond, a top-flight hoofer at one of Denver's swankiest saloons. Lise is on hand to help when Cole is recruited to break up the corrupt Santa Fe Ring, whose violent stranglehold on New Mexico territory threatens to destroy the town of Cimarron. This is a wonderful listening experience, sure to be a hit with lovers of Westerns. Gene Engene has such a great voice that it is easy to picture Braddock as a steely-eyed, weatherbeaten fast-draw ? la Gary Cooper. Enthusiastically recommended for all public libraries.
