New singer and a new change of direction, why?

Corpsegrinders vocals are much faster and slightly clearer which i feel gives the album more energy and therefore makes it sound better. Otherwise its much the same (which is still good, but not as good as Cryptopsy). I was however am disappointed with the lyrics. It reads much more 'supernatural' and unrealistic. Please go back to the lyrics and track names of 'the Bleeding' and 'Tomb of the Mutilated' with your new release guys. Otherwise- top stuff.

P.S- If you click onto 1 star reviews you may come across a guy that goes by the name of Johnathan Crooks. He claims the Corpse have gone pop, and compares them to the likes of East17, Backstreet Boys and Vengaboys. I thought that he must be into some hardcore music so i checked out his other reviews.

HA HA HA, this 100% professional gimp and expert at contradiction turns out to be a big fan of- thats right (not Meshuggah, Exhumed or Six Feet Under) but Britney Spears, Girlthing and U2. The word transvestite springs to mind. I now quote his 'Girlthing' review- 'I saw them live' and 'Their single is fun, catchy and oozes girl power'. Go put on your blouse gimp!

Acid rain, the plague, cross eyed nuns with bullwhips and bottles of gin....and a new C.C. record.....all things most would like to avoid right? i must admit that many years ago, I bought "Tomb of the Mutilated"and thought "what is this? " But, as music has evolved and metal genres have become less and less extreme since the early 90's demise of thrash, I've discovered a thirst for all things "heavier than thou! "... and my opinion on this band has changed drastically. First off...if you do not like extreme death metal, do not listen to it..and out of respect for us who enjoy it, do not diss it just because you can't relate. This material may not be the most original, nor the most musically technical, but man does it get the old head bangin'! Most noticable difference in this C.C. release is the production of Colin Richardson. The riffs and blast beats and finally (thankfully) the vokills are delivered with more clarity than earlier albums, making the individual performances stand out a bit more. The first three tracks are classic..containing moments of all out thrashing rage with break down mid paced riffs to ease the tension, and surprisingly some cool ( but still horror movie script) lyrics. "Unleashing the bloodthirsty" is simply a great DM song, with memorable riffs and vocal patterns, like all the other tunes on the CD, which for the first time on a C.C. release gives each track a different vibe, so that they do not all sound alike. Of course, the song structure is similar, and the band is not drifting off into any experimentation, but if it's not broke, what's to fix? Like them or not, this band is a pioneer of an extreme genre, and this CD proves the musicianship of the members. Webster and Owen write great aggressive music, and play it very well, and the blast beats and furious riffs are held together perfectly by Paul's drumming ( his best to date;despite what critics say: the man can pound! ) which makes great use of cymbals and high hats to break up the blasting. This is probably attributable to Colin's production.And finally, the vocal delivery is magnificent. Fisher is much more suited to C.C. than earlier Barnes style delivery. The vocals are intense and gutteral, but they are actually coherent to those who pay attention. Bottom line: C.C has broke no new ground, but to this thrasher, they have put out a CD that will get excessive time in my disc tray, because though brutal and at points even sick..this CD is an enjoyable listen. It is not recommended to those new to the genre of DM, and those who like DM anyway shouldn't be surprised by what they hear. P.S. I just caught the DM Massacre 2000 show last night in Indianapolis, and C.C was the most monstrously extreme thing I've ever heard on a stage... Great presence, great performances, and a heaviness to make you want to rent space in a mosh pit for the night... I have a new found respect for this band, so for what its worth, "Bloodthirst" is highly recommended!

This is one there best cds i have heard to date. Right from the track pounded into dust to condemned to agony.This is by one supreme and extreme death metal band.Next to mortician they are the most brutalist death metal band i have heard .I own all the cannibal corpse releases now and all C.C FANS get this now.Cannibal corpes keeps getting better with every release.The song dead human collection is just plain awesome. buy it today and get ready to feel the brutal force of cannibal corpse. THEY RULE.

... this is a solid Cannibal Corpse album, but offers nothing new or particularly invigorating. Everything sounds great: production, musicianship, vocals. All the tracks are entertaining. "Pounded into Dust", "Dead Human Collection", "Unleashing the Bloodthirsty" and "Blowtorch Slaughter" being the best tracks. Unfortunately there are no tracks of the magnitude of say "Hammer Smashed Face", "Staring Through the Eyes of the Dead" or "Devoured by Vermin". As such this is an entertaining but non essential record by the band. Newcomers should start off with "Tomb of the Mutilated", "The Bleeding" and "Vile". "Live Cannibalism" is also a good place to start.

OK, let's see here. Metal isn't metal unless you can sing along to it (this I'm not going to bother debunking, it's so damn idiotic...)? These guys have no talent? Same record as their last one? Lyrics are about gore?

Who the s**t buys a metal CD for the lyrics? Do you HONESTLY care about the lyrics? What the hell is wrong with you, in that case? Extreme metal involves the extremes of life. I think of Cannibal Corpse lyrics as funny, personally, because they're about as serious as dang A.C. Of COURSE this is the same record as their last one! Your POINT? AC/DC's been releasing the same album for thirty years, nobody seems to care so much about that.

No talent? BAHAHAHAHAHA. OK, why don't you actually look up the music to this CD? Find a tab for Unleashing the Bloodthirsty. Does that look like simple-simple-1-2-3-clap-your-hands-Raffi-idiocy to you? Please.

Bloodthirst is a great album, simply. It's a Cannibal Corpse album. You know what you're going to get: downtuned power-chord riffing that uses many parts of the fretboard, mid-paced death metal drumming, growled/screamed lyrics about gore and killing and raping and whatnot, subtly technical interludes and under-verse riffs, and heavy moshing/headbanging factor. That's what you get. No surprises, no problems.

If you like any post-Barnes CC record, you'll dig this immensely. If you don't like death metal... then what the hell are you doing here? Go listen to something else and leave the CC fans alone.

Cannibal Corpse has done it again, only this time they've out done themselves. Bloodthirst is 35 minutes of pure, gut wrenching,ear bleeding death metal. Corpsegrinder's voice is stonger than ever. Paul's drumming totally shreds most drummers in the genre, and while Alex and Jack are still writing the bulk of the music,Pat O'Brien has added three outstanding tracks to Cannibal's long list of horrifying, blood soaked music. And I mean that in a good way!! The first track, Pounded Into Dust, is sure to become an instant Corpse classic. Other noteworthy tracks include: Dead Human Collection, The Spine Splitter, Coffinfeeder, and Hacksaw Redemption. In fact, the whole album is noteworthy!! Just buy it and see for yourself. You won't be dissapointed!!!

This is one of my favorite Cannibal Corpse albums in my collection. I bought in the fall of 1999 along with The Inexorable by Angel Corpse. When ever Cannibal Corpse releases a CD or anything for that matter, it's always very hard to wait but when this CD was released, I went and picked up a copy and it delivered.

Now for my review. With this album, it's another new direction for the band. The material here is probably the most technical that the band has ever created but all of the basic, simple, familiar elements that make Cannibal Corpse the unstoppable death metal force that it is are all retained. The material is as heavy, aggressive, sick and brutal as can be but with more groove, catchiness, dynamics, creativity and musicianship from the whole band. There are times when some of the songs might remind me of Mortician. I guest what I'm probably talking about is Hacksaw Decapitation. That song sounds nothing like Mortician but it's just that scary intro at the beginning of the song and that small, scary outro at the end of the song all sound like something that Mortician would do. Now, the intro and the outro are not samples from conversations and gruesome murders done in horror movies. They are things that the band did with their intruments. This is just one of the many great highlights on the album. Some of the other great highlights are groovy, catchy, technical, yet heavy and brutal songs like The Spine Splitter, Sickening Metamorphosis and Condemned To Agony as well as powerhouses like Pounded In Dust and Unleashing The Bloodthirsty and also fan favorites like Coffinfeeder, Blowtorch Slaughter and Dead Human Collection. The lyics, song titles and the album cover are as sick and disgusting as always. The intruments sound awesome, the vocals are so corpsegrinding and the production and sound of the album makes the album sound listenable but nothing commercial though. Cannibal Corpse stays Cannibal Corpse. So don't worry. So with this album, it's another improvement in the Cannibal Corpse art of musical progression and mutilation. Some of my favorite songs here are Pounded Into Dust, Unleashing The Bloodthirsty, The Spine Splitter, Hacksaw Decapitation, Sickening Matamorphosis and Condemned To Agony which is my favorite. So buy this album and fulfill your bloodthirst or get pounded into dust. It's your choice.

It took me this long to realize it, or to accept it. But, after going through this cd and experiencing Fisher's amazing vocals, I have to admit that he is better than Chris Barnes. When Vile came out, I didn't like it at all, and for some reason it is still my least fave Corpse album. But, Gallery was better, and Bloodthirst even better yet. His screams on "Unleashing the Bloodhtirsty" are absolutely amazing. Fisher seems to put a lot more effort into his vocals, using different articulations and timbres than Barnes ever did. I wish he had been with CC since day one. The band is, as ever, razor sharp in their technicality. The riffs here are the most complex yet for a CC release. Seventh full-length album (not counting the EP or the live cd) and they are still making crushing music, with one of the best pure death metal vocalists ever. Right on.

AWESOME. Good choice for Cannibal Corpse to choose Colin Richardson (CARCASS) to produce "Bloodthirst". He definately brought out the best performances and overall sound of Cannibal. Corpsegrinder is the man.

Ok, I just want to say that everyone that puts this band down, is quite understandable, but very unecessary. You can't expect to rate an album like this if you truely dont understand the genre. You've probably got people who listen to kid rock and staind rating this album, and that in its self is just very wrong. What those people are actually doing, is rating the genre rather than this album. And this album does a very good job at living up to its genre. In fact, this album is probably one of the better metal albums of the year it was released. If you really aren't a fan of this stuff, I suggest staying close to your own genre. As a Musician, I respect what these guys bring to the table, and I respect a lot of other bands and what they also bring. But when you get casual street walkers who know little about true metal and musical knowledge, and you throw them together on the internet and have them rate this cd, you're going to get bad results.

If you like metal, not nu metal or hard rock, i mean bone crushing metal, then you'll like this cd.
