5.0 out of 5 stars Grande Finale
What can l say but excellent. What a way to finish of this section of the Necroscope Saga. Brian Lumley has developed Nathan our new Necroscope very well in the last two books and has brought him to fruishen in this final book. As in all his books the whole story entwines with many different characters and plots up to a great ending to rival the one in Deadspawn, not...

3.0 out of 5 stars Left Behind.....
Don't ask me why, but when I was about half way thru this book I started skimming page after page. Similar story lines rehashed over and over, yet written from a slightly different character perspective to appear a little different. Lots of wordy paragraphs with no real action. It reminded me of reading the long drawn out "Left Behind" series. In defense of Lumley, he...

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS GUY IS SO GOOD - IT MAKES ME SICK!, August 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Bloodwars (Paperback)
Good lord man, how good can one guy get at storytelling. This novel was the cream of the crop. I almost left my family and friends just so they wouldn't disturb me as I read this tale of terror. Mr. Lumley has a sick and devious mind - and I love it! I will bet you anything that this guy is a living, breathing vampire himself. He absolutely knows too much about them. But seriously folks, this is just great entertainment in all levels. Its a wonder that anybody watches t.v. with great and fun reading material like this around. The vampire world and its denizens are so cool to enter and read about, there are never boring spots in these novels folks. Lumley is just too damn talented a writer when it comes to his baby the Necroscope series. Great work by a great author. Read it today or I'll turn you into my thrall.

In defense of Lumley, he most likely felt compelled to explain the same past events over and over in every book of the series. With this being the 8th book, most of it ends up being a rerun for the faithful readers. Also trying to combine horror, science fiction, romance and spiritual themes in one book was just too much. Too many loose ends. I was bummed when finishing the first five books of the original Necroscope series, because I was left wanting more. With this trilogy I glad I done and am going to take a break from Lumley for awhile. Obvously you can't read the first two books and not this one. Just don't drop to many $$$ to complete the trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great ending to a good series, July 25, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Bloodwars (Paperback)
This is one of the best vampire stories ever written. Lumley merges science fiction, horror, and fantasy into a dramatic epic that challenges the literary definition of a vampire novel. I just hope that Lumley is not finished with the necroscope story because I feel there is so much left to tell (excluding his recent flashback necroscope novels

Brian Lumely continues to knock me on my behind! He is such a great writer! Everytime I read his books I can picture the world of the Whamphyri as if I were somehow transported there! Forget Anne Rice! This is the greatest Vampire writer ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, May 8, 2001
This review is from: Bloodwars (Paperback)
This installment is the best; best of the vimpire trilogy; best of all Lumley's works. The conclusion novel is a none stop reader. You wont need friends, when Lumley is your freind. Lumley's writing flows fast through your mind, with jumps, excitment,Twists and Mayhem! If you don't buy this then... life just wont seem the same!

5.0 out of 5 stars A white nuckle ride into a fresh,bloody, Vampire world!!!!, July 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Bloodwars (Paperback)
This is by far my favorite work by the master of Vampires. This is the icing on the cake. The well thought out beasts, vampires and gouls will keep you on the edge of your seat, turning page after page in a well lighted room, for when the lights go out, this tale of horror will be the last thoughts before you great the sand man. This is a white nuckle journey into a war of blood, beasts, and monsters that only the master of Vampires could ever dream up. Anne Rice, step aside, Brian Lumley is the Man!!!

Satisfying end to a great series. I know there are more books, but they seem to be "what was happening in the past" types, which I look forward to reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your Mother's vampire., August 3, 2008
This review is from: Bloodwars (Paperback)
Lumly brings the vision of a frightening vampire world to life. It is gruesome and gritty (at times disgusting) action packed well thought out and, though at times cheesy, Bloodwars, along with most of the Necroscope series is where the vampire genre should have always been. These vampire would eat vamps like Lestat and Louis for appitizers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite possibly my favorite book ever...., August 31, 2003
By
This review is from: Bloodwars (Paperback)
The subject says it all. Easily the best vampire novel written since Dracula, and that's a lot of books. Heck, one of the best horror novels ever written, period. The conclusion to one of the best series (really, the vampire world trilogy is a continuation of the Necroscope trilogy, so you should consider both series as one large series) of books I have ever had the pleasure of reading, and it's well worth every page. There is not one single dull, dry moment in this book. You can read it on its own...but to get the full effect, read the other books (at least the Vampire World trilogy) first. Then be prepared - this book packs one HECK of an emotional wallop!

My hat is off to Mr. Lumley. The best book, bar none, I have ever read.
