This is a great album from beginning to end for me! It hasn't left my stereo in days. I can't wait for the Vinyl! It's hard to explain - it doesn't sound like anyone exactly but think early Alice Cooper or Kiss crossed with Electric Wizard and The Sword. Reminds me of Roky Erickson and the Aliens quite a bit too. Good Hard Rock Album... my $0.02

1st album from North Carolina band--old school, classic hard rock/metal that packs a powerful,
thunderous roar. The guitars are massive, rumbling, distorted in a way that shakes the speakers
and your brain. The lyrics warn of evil, darkness and black magic with a sonic Satanic crush.
The band wields their instruments with a professional passion that likely comes from a deal with
the Devil. There's more than a touch of Gothic & Stoner rock influence here, plus a hint of irony
and a splatter of big-hair, bare-chested metal. The vocalists(s) actually sing and never lose track
of the melody, though it's beaten to a bloody pulp with gargantuan chord vibrations. Shades of
Black Sabbath, Baroness, Sungrazer, Blood Ceremony, The Sword, Monster Magnet, Bauhaus.
This is just an exceptional Goth/metal album that blasts out a wickedly monstrous sound with
class, style and a nod to Hell. An awesome debut!

Clued into this band while doing some random searching and linking for new doom, stoner, metal bands. Talk about feeling lucky! If Roky Erickson was raised on British 70's Heavy Metal instead of 60's Texas Psych, this would most likely be the result. There are no sound clips here, but just head over to YouTube and search for "Bloody Hammers Black Magic"...you'll hear a Roky Erickson type vocal/lyric over a Sabbath "Children Of The Grave" type riff. The entire album has a similar vibe. A heavy, rocking, sludgy offering with just the kind of dark, demonic lyrics you would expect. The singing is clear and often delivered in a spoken manner. The lyrics are intelligible which can be a rarity these days. The overall sound is clear, well mixed and has a heavy tube/analog sound. Per the liner notes, the album is "Produced, Recorded & Performed by Anders Manga". Man, this dude can really do it all and do it extremely well. My only beef, being a guitar guy, is the lack of real killer lead riffs and solos. I keep waiting for the insertion of those Tony Iommi, Wino style lead fills and they never appear. With the addition of some real killer guitar work, this would be a "for sure" 5 star sacrifice.
But I digress.....for any stoner, hard rock, doom, Black Sabbath, or Roky Erickson fan this album will definitely get more than "one spin" before it's shelved or "stored" for awhile.
Check it out!

My favorite group was, is and always has been Black Sabbath since I was a kid in the 70's. So, yes I am pretty old now, but still love metal music, traditional doom metal, stoner metal, classic rock, whatever label you like to put on it, I am just into good music that rocks, as long as it has some melodic aspects, catchy riffs, good solos and clean vocals, but it cannot be an exact duplicate of things already done a 1,000 times before. Bloody Hammers on this album deliver a FRESH sound I have not heard before, while not being weird or too spacy. It is sludgy, fuzzy sounding, and yes the occult vocals have been done many times before, but the lead vocalist has the perfect voice to deliver these lyrics around arrangements that will leave you singing these songs in your head while you are busy doing other things besides listening to music. And this is ultimately how I measure a 5 star album for me, do I find myself singing the songs, bobbing my head and anticipating when I can next put the album on and rock again. This album by Bloody Hammers is perfect. Their second album is good, but not as good as this one. Bloody Hammers, Orchid and Mountain Witch are now my favorite bands behind Black Sabbath, and Bloody Hammers is pushing Orchid for number 2. Pick it up, and enjoy.

If you like Metal of the Doom genre, you should definitely check this release from Bloody Hammers out. They have a very heavy, dark sound with good vocals and melody.
