History Lesson via Cocksparrer, February 9, 1999

Oi! and StreetRock bands come and go, one that's weathered the years and maintained their own sound and integrity is CockSparrer. Credited with bringing about the birth of Oi!, Sparrer did it first and best...tracks like "Where Are They Now" and "England Belongs to Me" rate as first-class among any punk, past or present. This is a fairly decent place to start if your a new fan, or, if you're like me, a good cd to play whenever vinyl isn't handy...Pick this up, and listen to part of history, then start a band and create your own history. Also, pick up "Shock Troops", possibly the greatest punk album EVER.

Best 'Streetpunk' Band, Bar None, January 5, 2011
This review is from: Bloody Minded: Best of Cock Sparrer (Audio CD)
It's an anachronism to call Cocksparrer Oi, as they predate Oi by almost a decade, but regardless, it is some of the best street-based, working class punk rock ever. Sometimes it sounds a bit more like British Pub Rock than what most people think of as punk, but nothing exists in a vacuum. Cocksparrer is intense, intelligent, and engaging in a way that's pretty rare within the subgenre they inhabit. It's loud, funny, and energetic- no plodding two chord watch-checkers, no boring cliches about skins and punk uniting or ACAB, but an equal mix of discontent, anger, and pub shenanigans. I can think of few other bands who have weathered the past four decades and are still worth a listen, and if you're not already on board, this is a pretty good place to start.
