It wasn't scary but fun!

The only reason I watched it was because there was nothing else on TV, and I just wanted to see how bad it really was.

To say this film is a rip-off of the Friday the 13th series is an understatement.

I've seen this movie twice... the first time I was somewhat disappointed with it, as like some of the other reviewers, I thought there wasn't enough gore, tension, and scary moments.
Strangely enough, I really had fun watching it a second time, and here's why: instead of watching it as a horror / slasher flick, I watched it as more of a murder mystery... who is the killer? What is his / her / their motivation? In my opinion, the best moments of this movie are when various characters run through their various hypotheses regarding the killer and motive. The screenplay was well-crafted, so at any time the killer may be any one of a number of characters. Some of the dialog between characters is quite amusing.
So if you look at the cover, and think
hockey mask + chainsaw = gore, gore, gore
you'll undoubtedly be disappointed. But if you keep an open mind and play along trying to figure out the killer and motive, you should enjoy the flick. The soundtrack to the movie is excellent, considering that this movie had to be super low budget. The actors also do a nice job.

A guy in a hockey mask kills kids at Camp Placid Pines. I was so upset by the rip off aspect of the film, it was difficult for me to enjoy it. This story includes the creepy old guy who warns the kids about the killer as well as the kid who wears a hockey mask just to scare the other campers. It is better than most low budget slasher films, but not where we want it to be.

No F-bombs or nudity.

This movie is absolutly one of the funniest horror movies ever! Okay so I jumped in two parts, but I haven't had this much fun in a movie since The Evil Dead II! This is great, and yes it does rip-off Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but still this movie is enjoyable, and I don't see why these "die-hard" horror fans don't like it. Come on loosen up, these people know they are in a bad film, so they don't dry to take it seriously. 5 STARS Definately!!!

Bloody Murder is an absolutley brilliant film. Words couldn't say how very deeply I adored this movie. It is art. The character development is superb. The plot is suspenseful, horrifying, and electrifying. This one kept me guessing right to the end. The cinematography is unparalelled to any other I have seen...ever. Why this film didn't sweep the academy awards, I will not know. The acting is amazing. These young minds have lured me into a world of guessing and astonishment. Why they are not famous? Who knows. The characters have such interesting lives! Julie, the main character is so multi faceted, it blows me away. And the very thought of Trevor Moorehouse keeps me waking up in the middle of the night terrified, drenched in a cold sweat. The bottom line, my friends, is that Bloody Murder is incredible. Rent it immediatly and beware of the woods...

I truly hate Bloody Murder. It's barely bloody and the murders aren't gruesome enough. With a title like "Bloody Murder" it should be exactly as advertised and yet, it's anything but.

The biggest issue however, is that the movie overall is *extremely* low budget. The acting is horrendous and more suitable for a soap opera. Right from the beginning when a man leaves his car and runs through the woods fearing a masked man reminiscent of Jason Voorhees you can tell this is going to be a horrible horror flick. Oh and I've never mentioned this before, but how unrealistic is it that someone would be running through a dark forest and yet, the scenery is bright enough to easily find your way around? Are we supposed to believe the moonlight is creating this exceptional brightness? Must be a full moon every single night! Please. I realize this is done so *we* can see the people on screen, but it's one of those things that's been bugging me for years. Meanwhile you can probably see a dozen horror films showing the people exploring underground caves and yet, these environments are NEVER bright enough, haha. Amazing.

Anyway, about Bloody Murder. The storyline is about a group of teenagers running from a masked man that's so much of a Jason Voorhees imitation you'd swear this must be some kind of mockery however, you'd be wrong because the film most certainly *tries* to be a legitimate horror movie and trust me, it fails in all areas. The acting being generic is one problem, but being downright BAD and almost high school play-like totally makes this movie one of the worst you'll ever see in the horror genre. These actors are stiff in their performance and really bad as a result. This movie is clearly intended for those who've never seen a horror movie before so all the typical cliches would be brand new to them. I can't stress this next point enough- avoid, and avoid hard and heavy.

The movie Bloody is a excellent flim in the movie Bloody Murder you don't find out who the killer is until the end. The movie has excellent actors and actresses in it, also its not glory but still scary but its still a very good flim.

The terrifying legend of Trevor Moorehouse is alive and well at Camp Placid Pines. Trevor Moorehouse, the masked figure who wields a chainsaw instead of a left hand, is behind a frightening game of Hide and Seek played on the first night of camp every year by campers and counselors alike. This year, however, those thrills turns into nightmares as some teenage counselors soon find out when they each disappear one by one. Leaving those left behind to figure out whom the killer really is before they become the next victim.

Often criticized for being a blatant rip-off of the Friday the 13th series, Bloody Murder does several things differently that sets it apart from that series alotogether. First and foremost, instead of being a movie that relies more on gore and tension to build it up, Bloody Murder is more like a mystery that you have to figure out. True, Bloody Murder does lack a good bit of gore and scares to be a slasher flick but, what it does do, it does very well and that's what I love most about this flick.

For a low-budget movie, it has alot of style and is fun to watch. It must've did pretty well because a followup came out in 2003 called: Bloody Murder 2-Closing Camp(which is more in line with other slasher flicks and is much better, in my opinion). At any rate; Bloody Murder, despite people criticizing it for being a Friday the 13th rip-off, is one I heartily recommend for the slasher movie fan. It's good!
