Product Description

From The Bone Collector to the brand-new James Bond masterwork, “there is no thriller writer today like Jeffery Deaver” (San Jose Mercury News)!

Hard-living Hollywood location scout John Pellam found the perfect backwater Missouri town for shooting a retro gangster film. But when real bullets leave two people dead and one cop paralyzed, Pellam—an unwitting witness to the brutal hits—is suddenly the South’s most wanted man. The feds and local police want him to talk. Mob enforcers want him silenced. And a mysterious blonde just wants him. Trapped in a town full of sinister secrets and deadly deceptions, Pellam must focus on facing down a killer before his own story fades to black.

About the Author

Jeffery Deaver’s most recent #1 international bestseller is Carte Blanche, the new James Bond novel that brought Ian Fleming’s Agent 007 firmly into the modern age. After revealing his lifelong admiration for Fleming’s novels while accepting the Crime Writer’s Association Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award for his thriller Garden of Beasts, Deaver was approached by the estate of Ian Fleming to write the next Bond thriller. It debuted on bestseller lists around the world.

The author of two collections of short stories and 28 previous suspense novels, Deaver is best known for his Kathryn Dance and Lincoln Rhyme thrillers, most notably The Bone Collector, which was made into a feature starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie.  His many awards include the Novel of the Year at the International Thriller Writers’ Awards in 2009 for his standalone novel The Bodies Left Behind. The latest entries in the Lincoln Rhyme series are The Cold Moon, The Broken Window, and The Burning Wire

Deaver has been nominated for seven Edgar Awards by the Mystery Writers of America, an Anthony Award and a Gumshoe Award. He was recently short-listed for the ITV3 Crime Thriller Award for Best International Author. His books are sold in 150 countries and translated into 25 languages. He lives in North Carolina.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy editing, should be a freebie, May 4, 2010

This Kindle edition is a disgrace. No whitespace between paragraphs often makes it hard to understand who is saying or doing what, or even what's happening. I can imagine someone editing a free book for Kindle in a hurry doing a job like this, but this is a book that's pretty expensive. Since writers get 30 percent of the sales -soon even 70 I think- they should take responsibility for how their work is sold.
Mr. Deaver, show us what you are made of! Oversee the editing yourself and let everyone who bought this Kindle edition based on your good name as an author have a refund or a properly edited book.
The book itself would get 5 stars from me (I read the paperback years ago and liked it), but the shoddy editing job takes away three of those stars for the Kindle edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Jeffery Deaver Kindle Books Over priced!, March 2, 2010
This review is from: Bloody River Blues (Location Scout Mysteries) (Kindle Edition)
Buy a paperback, or check out a used book store. Paying almost $10 for books that have been in print for 10-15 years is a HUGE RIP-OFF by Deaver, his publisher and Amazon!
