Editorial Reviews

From cult Japanese action director Yasuharu Hasebe comes Bloody Territories, a stylishly colorful yakuza tale set against the backdrop of Tokyo’s gangster underworld. A once-powerful yakuza clan disbands as a result of a police crackdown, but one small group refuses to bow to police pressure, and launches a campaign to take over Tokyo’s drug, prostitution, and gambling rackets. Someone wants to stop them. Is it the police? Rival gang members? Or is it an entirely new group of hired killers who will stop at nothing to gain complete control of Tokyo’s "bloody territories"?

This review is from: Bloody Territories (DVD)
If you appreciate Yakuza films of the 1970s (i.e., The Yakuza Papers - Battles Without Honor & Humanity (Complete Box Set)) you'll be a bit disappointed by this sleeper. Although it was made by Nikkatsu, this film suffers from a uninteresting blackmail and extortion plot and not enough action. Yet, if you appreciate the slow paced yakuza films by Suzuki (i.e., Kanto Wanderer and Tattooed Life), you may like this.
