This review is from: Bloom (Audio CD)
On her second solo album Lou Rhodes breaks away not just from Lamb but her solo debut album Beloved One. This album is rich and with a full band backing the sound is a pleasant step up from Beloved One. With great emotion from track to track this journey is one of self reflection.

It has a charm..,
This review is from: Bloom (Audio CD)
There are more good moments than bad overall. Occasionally waxes a bit on the over-emotional semi-melodramtic side for my taste. But the steel string guitar picking is lush and hypnotic and the melodies are haunting and meloncholic, which I do like. Another female singer/songwriter worth checking out in a similar if not harder vein, would be the very excellent (and reasonably priced) debut CD by Cristina Dona entitled "Cristina Dona". OK, they're not exactly the same. Bloom is a decent album and worth a listen.. didn't always get into the lyrics, but I'm a sucker for a moody yet well-played steel string guitar.
