Slim Cessna's Auto Club--Americadio--by George Cessna

Biography

Engaging, riveting, sad and humorous; demanding the audience to participate both live and while listening to their albums--Slim Cessna's Auto Club has been branded with every musical description possible. This seems fitting, as SCAC describes their music as American (Is that not what America is and has been, a mixture of every one and thing resulting in something new?); and after a decade of… Read more in Amazon's Slim Cessna's Auto Club Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Apocalyptic Deathgrass, October 26, 2004
By
This CD is quite unlike anything that I have heard before. I think that SCAC has created a new genre that could most accurately be described as "Deathgrass". The songs, though formed in the alt-country and Bluegrass tradition, deal with subject matter not normaly explored by either musical style. Sure, there is a lot of Bluegrass material that deals with religion, but it doesn't have that dark edge that SCAC does. It isn't from the same perspective. It isn't from the perspective of the damned. To really get a feel for what SCAC is all about you need to experience the inhuman intensity of one of their live shows. Barring that, this CD will give you a taste of their unique musical concoction.

5.0 out of 5 stars munly and slim!!!, September 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
from the music to the lyrics,, slim cessnas auto club redefines americana,, the lyrics are like nothing ive ever heard. many of the song plots take you back to much earlier times, its just brilliant, from the opening track, this is how we do things in the country, the theme is set, and i found myself wondering if they were being satirical, or glorifying a very backward southern gentleman. im still wondering, then you get to mark of vaccination, a tale of a young man seeing a airplane for the first time, only for it to land and stick the townspeople with injections. that song listens like a early 19th century poem, jackson hole, a short song that could have been longer, again great story, with someone telling another to get out of a car, while the drive continues his journey. . shady lane, so much imagery, lovely description of an old man with a red cane, playing his song for the folks of shady lane. incredible, port authority, with the simple but addictive banjo plucking, its a story of new comers to our great country, quickly told to leave, again, could have been released as a poem in a different age. sour patch kids, an epic tale of father and his kids living through hard times with nothing but farming to live, so he decides to teach them to sing the about the glory, maybe my favorite song of all time, and wrapping it up with a history lesson and a sermon set to a infectious groove, telling the mostly true story of a baptist legend, roger williams............. A+ all the way around, buy this just as much for the words as the music, and just as much the singing as the words, a renaissance production from true renaissance gentleman,, like nothing ive ever heard or seen, nothing but praise.
