Biography

Billy Boy Arnold is back. With his 1992 Alligator Records debut, BACK WHERE I BELONG, Arnold firmly reestablished himself as one of the foremost practitioners of classic Chicago blues. His wailing harmonica playing and soulful vocals are a perfect match for his streetwise songwriting. The combination of Delta-influenced blues with a more urban sophistication not only defines Arnold's sound, but… Read more in Amazon's Billy Boy Arnold Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding Old Friends, February 5, 2004
By
Richard M. Brown (Tonganoxie, Kansas USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Blowin the Blues Away (Audio CD)
This was probably the first blues LP I ever bought, though I haven't heard any of my LPs since I got my first CD player nearly 20 years ago. I think I found it a cut-out bin somewhere. Listening to the samples posted on amazon was like finding a bunch of old friends. "Dirty MF", "1-2-99 ", "Sweet Miss Bea", "Eldorado Cadillac", and "Mary Bernice" are all classics in the true sense of the word. This is the real barbequed blues before it became popular and slick. Musicianship is top notch, songs are wonderful, and Billy Boy's vocals are the real deal. And what a name, eh?
