Does the Xbox One play Blu Ray discs to watch movies like the PS3 and 4? I am new to the Xbox world so please excuse what may be a stupid question. Thank you for your time.

Yes, you will need to download the Blu-Ray App but it does in fact play DVD and Blu-Ray Movies.

Yup. It plays blu ray movies, DVDs and even good old audio CDs. It can also stream movies from your computer.

Neither the PS4 or Xbox One Support 3D Blu-Ray at this time. That may change via an update!

if you go to Home, then scroll all the way to the right to the store, click on Apps. Then you can browse for it. Or go all the way to the right under popular apps and you'll find the Blu-ray app.

Does it need a DVD app? Funny it needs an app when PS3 doesn't need an app at all.

That's because Sony owns the rights to Blu-ray

to get bluray app, just make sure your xbone is connected to internet. insert bluray disk into drive. the xbone will tell you to download app. say yes. then you are ready to go.

I got my xbox one on launch day, 11-22. It still works as it should, its just that sometimes when i put a disk in it makes the terrible gear crunching sound from hard drive we've all heard about. Yet all my games play just fine, sometimes blu rays too but i dont even play blu rays on it now because I cant help but feeling that it is wearing out, i sure hope not but why else would i hear that awful sound ? Id love to hear feedback from any fellow x1 owners on this topic, even if you didnt have a similar experiance i would like to hear ur thoughts.
