I was decived by the description of the player. If you buy this player be aware that it is NOT a true BD player. It will not play commercial blu ray DvD. It will play regular DvDs and will burn on to blu ray but it will not play any of your favorite blu ray DvDs. I do not recomend this product!

Yes, you must provide your own bluray software for this nifty item.
It outshined my fancy $180 Toshiba player by playing "Spartacus Blood and Sand" for me through my laptop and onto my 55" LED LCD TV via HDMI with the superb quality of a blu ray player you would expect. The hookup is plug and play and on my windows 7 laptop it worked great! For some reason it won't work on my Vista computer. :( I haven't had time to troubleshoot yet, but hopefully will get it working. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants a portable drive for a couple machines you own that need blu ray.

This is not plug and play. You have to get another peace of software in order to work with your computer. I have not been able to use it. I don't like it.
